Depending on what his wages are (im assuming around 40k a week mark or just below) I think we could do a lot worse than sign John Carew. People on here are making him out as if he is like Ade Akinbiyi from his Leicester days when the actual reality is:

-He has more than enough premier league experience to know whats required

-Been involved in Champions League many times so has experience of the big games (champions league finalist im quite sure too!)

- Proved he can score consistently in the top flight

- If im correct didn't he bang a hat trick past us in our FA Cup tie where our Wembley dream was brought to an end?

Yet some of you who criticize this suggestion are wanting us to shell out £4 million on a league one striker who could quite possibly be a complete flop for us? :|

Heard he was seen as a major trouble maker in his Villa days - out clubbing before matches etc.

I actually like Carew, flashes of brilliance. Good strong forward with a lot of experience.

In all honesty on his day he would be our best player if he were in the squad

I'd just like to LOL that on the same board as Michael Owen is written off as not good enough for Reading, John fcuking Carew is not.

Hardly no one ever said anything about Owen being a bad player. Just think he would be a huge huge huge gamble given his recent injury history. His wages would be a lot to pay for Owen to sit on the treatment table.

Carew is less of a risk imo at least we would get games in return for the wages we would pay him. I don't think there is anyone who can confidently sit there and say the same about Michael Owen just seems to be one injury after another unfortunately.
