Will we ever sign anybody?

by andrew1957 » 26 Jun 2012 17:38

It seems that this year the transfer activity is less than normal. A quick tally of transfers to this point in 2012 compared to 2011 from the BBC site would suggest that transfer activity is about 60% of the volume as compared to last year.

Not sure why - could be the Euros I suppose but looks like it will only pick up in July.

I find it odd. You would have thought that club’s would want to get their squads together ASAP so they could make the most of team bonding in the pre season and you would have thought players would want the security of a contract.

As it is everyone waits until the last minute and a hundred transfers go through on Aug 31st. A very odd way to run a business really.

I am willing to put some of the blame on the Euros. Outside of Germany, Portugal, Spain and Italy the Euros are over for everyone else. I am guessing everyone is waiting on the bigger clubs to make their moves first to determine who is "excess baggage" at their respective big club for the smaller teams to go after.

:| It's so obviously the Euros. There is always a slow period during International tournaments.

It's June. June is usually quiet. Look around, not many have spent a penny yet.

Andrew - no offence mate but grow up. If that's your year of birth in your username then it's quite unbecoming.

We've clearly been pursuing several players anyway.

Also, am I right in saying that transfers cannot be officially ratified until the transfer window opens on Monday. I know we've signed McLeary but wasn't he released early from his contract?

 ......

Andrew once again proving he is the biggest Mongtard on HNA. Quite an achievement considering the competition.

im sure we will sign someone within days. pog is supposedly close to signing for us, maybe they're planning on doing it with the new kit? hopefully we can bring in a creative midfielder or two, and a couple of defenders and i would be extremely pleased with this summer.

pog
x2 class midfielders
x2-3 class defenders
=success in the premier league

Only if we sign Norty Nortei too

Brian wants to assess the whole squad earlier pre-season so we're not going to begin replacing fringe players just yet, only those we've got rid of at the end of their contracts/loans.
