RUMOUR - Luke Young

by Isaac Hunt » 29 Jun 2012 10:14

Set to leave QPR...Fordham claiming that we're interested in him via a tweet to journo that covers QPR.

Would add plenty of experience.

I think that's more the level we're aiming at. Fair replacement for Griff.

He's shit. I hope McDermott doesn't go down the route of signing any old fcucker just because they've played in the premiership before.

Completely agree, hardly a coup is it?!

One year deal on a free... cant see there being much risk in this. Would be a better backup than John Oster last time we were here

Get ready for a summer of disappointment then. I'd much rather have him in the back 4 then Cummings.

Agreed, Cummings has earned his place. Young could be our 12/13 Griff.

Agreed.

Don't get me wrong - Cummings has done very well after his dreadful first season. But the experience a player like Young would bring, i think he'd get the nod. Cummings will need to step it up again this season.... I really hope he does too.

Would be a very solid signing. Premier league experience Played a few times for England. Wealth of experience that he could provide for cummings too!

Lets's not forget that we are not garenteed to stay up in this league because we have a Russian Billionaire at the helm. Solid, no risk signings like this could be the difference to us staying up

Agreed don't see where we can go wrong with a cheap player that has games and games of PL experience. Think Cummings should be given the opportunity to prove himself in the starting xi as mentioned though.

Hes quite versatile as well if I can recall

Might be worth it as cover. Surprised QPR are so keen to get shot of him, who is their first-choice right-back these days?

Having an experienced player would obviously be good for players like cummings but Young is leaving QPR because he wants first team football, he isn't going to want to sit on the bench to mentor a player.

I'm a big fan of cummings and think he should be given his chance but IMO we either have to go all out and get a first choice RB and have cummings as backup or put faith in cummings and maybe get a utility player (like say connoly) who can play RB. If we are going for a 1st choice i would say maybe look for slightly better than young (if possible) and i dont think he would be a suitable back up as could cause unrest at being left out
