I contend that we are in a stronger position than we were in 2006. Granted, we don't have the 106 team, but we know what to expect and have learned the hard way. The basis of an effective and competitive side is in place and being added to, we have infinitely greater financial resources and IMO, a better managerial setup.

If we do stumble, parachute payments and AZ's wealth should allow us to keep most of the squad, one which should cut through the Championship reasonably easily.

Let's sit back and enjoy the ride. As a fan since 1965, I personally am enjoying the success which I could only have dreamed of for my first 37 years or so.

If we go down we'll be in a better position to come back up than we were the last time, even if those three players are no longer at the club.

I reckon Alf and Hunt, Pogrebnyak will have f*cked off by then.

Quite possible if they are not getting first team action, however if we go down then lack of goals will be a contributory factor so maybe they won't be missed.

The players and manager that got us up this time were not in the manager and players that went down last time (Gunnarsson may have technically been a part), so chances area team rebuild will be required.

Pogrebnyak has a relegation release clause. He wanted it activated as soon as we went down, but we were trying to negotiate that he stays until the Jan transfer window. I don't know the conclusion of those discussions, but it was a sticking point at the time.
