TheLawnMowerMan
themadstad Basically long threads in rumours, such as this, are of those players that we don't sign. Tommy, Gylfi and Jordan.

That's a decent point actually - but I think we have 50+ for The Pogmeister.

Does this mean the Rougeometer will be inaccurate?!

To be honest, I wouldn't pay more than £3m for a player with negligable experience above League 1, not when £6m can buy you a player with proven top flight pedigree. Thankfully, I can't see Nicky Hammond being held to ransom either.

Please give up mate. Please.

Only been having a bit of banter so to speak. On a serious note i happen to know someone who is very close to someone at the club and the other day i had a message saying Rhodes would be staying at the club for one more season. Who knows what the outcome will be, normally the players agents get into their heads and change everything. Rhodes is a great guy and you can tell his father who used to be a goalkeeper has brought him up in a proper manner and is used to dealing with the media and pressure of being a professional footballer.
If you get him i am sure he will carry on and score goals, he just has that knack of being in the right place and is very good with both feet and in the air. Of course i hope he will stay with us but as some of your posters say, money talks and we as a club could not stand in his way if the right move comes along. As i said in my first post good luck for next season and wish all you fans all the best..

Huddersfield are a complete joke of a club - you sacked an up and coming manager despite consistent playoff finishes and a phenomenal record and were happy about it!

What a complete joke of a statement.
Yes Lee Clark took Huddersfield to 'consistent' play-offs,
and lost the lot.
Huddersfield took the gamble on sacking him and bringing in a man with a good play-off and promotion record,
and got promoted.

Still a decision that shocked and dismayed a lot of people within the game. I for one hoped they wouldn't make it just because of the way they treated a young manager who was doing well.

The writing was on the wall for Clark when he left Jordan Rhodes on the bench for the play-off final.
Many Huddersfield fans thought he should have gone there and then.
But Huddersfield's chairman gave him bags on money AGAIN and Clark signed 20 midfielders.
Clark then seemed to have his team playing not to lose rather than playing to win.
It looked like they were going to miss out again though.

In the end, the chairman took a very brave decision, which paid off.

royalZILLAAA All this Huddersfield bashing is pretty lame. Decent side with a nice big plastic stadium like ours, could be contenders in the Championship over the next few years, similar to a Reading of about 10-15 years ago really.

Funny how people got arsey about Liverpool, Spurs and Swansea fans turning their nose up at us over Sig, but do the very same to Huddersfield over Rhodes.

That being said, I hope we get him. If not this time around then maybe we'll have unsettled him in time for January.

agreed. its the big time charlie mentally that we hated the bigger clubs for. some of these idiots should go back to the 80's and 90's to understand what this club is all about and how far we have come

i reckon Rhodes could be like Le Fondre - still reckon Le F should be given a chance as he's proved he's a good finisher

Agreed about being big time charlie's. Le Fondre's his super sub ability, but I haven't seen enough from him over 90 minutes. Realistically who's he going to put out of the team? Can't see it happening.

My grandfather and father was/is a massive Huddersfield Town fan,
so I do have an interest in them.

Pepe the Horseman Question. Is Lee Makel the best Huddersfield player of all time?

They have had some good ones.

Alex Jackson scored a hatrick for Scotland when they thrashed England at Wembley.
Ray Wilson was a World Cup winner.
Frank Worthington was Huddersfields answer to Pele.
Denis Law was the youngest ever Scottish international, and I think he may still be their highest goal scorer.

They have had a lot of good teams.
English champions 3 times,
runners up twice,
3rd place twice,
and 5 F A Cup finals.

Not sure Reading will ever match those hights.
Yes, it was a long time ago,
but the abolition of the maximum wage put paid to small town clubs winning lots of trophys.
