TheSiege Potentially England's centre-forward for the next ten years and WHUFC are going to borrow him for 2m this season - if he agrees. Given the huge financial benefits for remaining in the Prem in the 13/14 season, should we not be considering things like this? They are in no way identical but there are similarities between Carroll and Robin Friday. We would Kick bottom with him in the side. Wages - I don't know, but if Big Sam can do it then there must also be a way of doing it legally!

We would have to pay ridiculous wages for one of the most over-rated strikers in the Premier League. If he goes to West Ham for the reported £2m this season and then £17m next season, then more fool them. Liverpool and West Ham, two clubs that cannot give their money away quick enough!

Wages aside I'd have him in a heart beat.

Don't know why he gets the 'over rated' charm.

Ignore his price tag, he is class. He is young and I promise he will get better.

That was meant to be his preferred option. Seems he doesn't want to go to Sham (can't think why!!) but Liverpool's messages aren't exactly clear. One day Rodghers says he wants to keep him, the next they have agreed a loan fee to West Ham.

Can't see the point of West Ham taking on a player who does't want to play for them. And I am amazed that they have found enough money to buy all these new players. Thought they were in hard times. Relegation this season will finish them.

Andy Carroll is just a classic big girl's blouse.

In the past we've always done everything we can to avoid problems who have problems in their personal lives and (shall we say) addictive personalities.

We got it horribly wrong with Greg Halford - but I think we'd be a bit more careful this time, especially as the numbers involved are so much larger.

TheSiege I like the Pog but, played to his strengths, Carroll would take us to another level. We have ability in the team but, to be sure of survival, we must score hatfulls of goals. We have no guarantee of that at the moment. Another quality striker IS needed!

We need a forward willing to make runs behind the back line. Someone with a bit of pace. We already have Roberts and Pog who are able to hold the ball up. Carroll coming in would see roberts becoming surplus to requirements IMO

They are in bad times. A couple of weeks ago they were calling for a wage cap to be introduced but now they are planning on giving Carroll a contract worth over £30 million and a couple of years ago their wage bill was taking up 90% of their income. They are a ridiculous club.

TheSiege I agree with every derogatory thing said about WHUFC but, on paper, they have a better squad than us and are still buying. I would LOVE to end this season higher than them but, at this moment, I cannot see that happening.

On paper they had a better squad than everyone in their league last season, including us. Didn't do them a lot of good for finishing above us.

Synergy: The effect of the total, is greater than the combination of the individual parts. OR when it comes to RFC: TEAM work!

I can't believe sensible discussion is still going on about this. It's completely unrealistic.

Because all those who've started following Reading now they're a Premier League team want to have players they've heard of.

If you have seen some of the flashes of sheer Goal Scoring talent that Alfie displays, you'll realize that he will become a force, known to every PL goalkeeper, as they pull the ball out of their net!

"It's great to be here at West Ham and all signed up - I just can't wait to get started now," Carroll said on BBC website.

A week ago he didn't want to go there. They deserve each other.
