And there's a risk in replacing too many players.

We're in a much worse position getting promoted this time, because a lot of our team weren't clear first choice last season, are of questionable talent at Champ level, let alone Prem or are really starting to get on in age. There are a lot who could make the step up, but not many you can say should.

Whereas I think you can say that at least Hahnemann, Shorey, Sidwell, Little, Kitson and maybe Harper & Ingimarsson had all produced over multiple Champ seasons and still had time in age, so should actually step up reasonably well.

This time our promoted team feels like it was actually promoted mid-transition. Which means an awful lot of work was needed all across the pitch. But bringing in a whole new team rarely works. I think we've gone about as far as we can with new signings at this point, without effectively having an entirely new team.

that bit though, i can remember the vast majority of people saying that only sidwell,& possibly kits was good enough when we went up

and as all of the players that left have proven since, its not really about their ability/talent and more about the team, the unit, the spirit and the organisation.
as soon as theyve all left, they suddenly looked utterly ordinary again

I agree pretty much word for word with Brendy.

I'm sure most of our players are good enough. Of last year's first XI, I only have significant doubts over the full backs and the striker who isn't Roberts.

The good news for those players is that you'd don't need eleven Premier League players to have a Premier League team, and you don't even need to be "good enough" to play well. Simeon Jackson had a spell where he scored three goals in seven games or something last season, and he's probably only a League 1 striker. Look at most of Swansea and particularly Norwich's side a year ago and you wouldn't have said many were Premier League players- Holt and Hoolahan probably, but anyone else? They added Johnson, we've added Guthrie. They added Naughton, we've added Gunter.

The step up for players isn't nearly as big as people make out. We're not trying to compete with Arsenal, we're trying to compete with West Brom and Sunderland.

Is this a genuine rumour? All the discussion seems to be about whether it's a good idea or not but is there any basis in this?

Would probably be a good move for Hunt, he shouldnt be starting Premier League games IMO.

TheSiege Don't say that too loudly or the thread will disappear!

The truth will out! If you can't bear the heat - don't come into the kitchen! This is a fans forum, you may be higher up in the infrastructure than us real fans but, if you don't like what we talk about, Sign off and don't interfere!

'Sege'......just what is your problem? Did someone put your dog down or something....? I think that when you stick to actually being a RFC fan, as you so broadly claim, you have some pretty insightfull comments to make, scoring points for your knowledge and understanding of the Club. Problem is, .....you then come out with all this other crap. Why?

I've got nothing on the rumours of Hunt going anywhere. I personally don't think he'll go this window, but I have heard he was very unhappy about Pogrebnyak's wages and kicked up quite a stink! I could see him moving on in Jan or certainly next summer, and perhaps giving Church an opportunity here as 4th choice. Just speculating (for the benefit of urz13)

If we stay up, the likes of Hunt and Church will need to be players we target to replace or push down the pecking order. Hunt'll do for now, but I can't see him making a big impact at this level. ALF is a bit more of an unknown quantity and is probably worth persisting with even just as back up for a season or two more.

Are you supposed to put photographs of yourself on the forum? Whatever! Waggle your ears and the goals may go in. In the meantime, try and work out what you should be doing as an administrator and DO IT RIGHT!

Cant you just stick to talking about football? It seems you get bullied in real life and lash out in the safety of your own home.
