Pepe the Horseman

Pepe the Horseman QPR agree a deal in principle for Carvalho on loan. That's gonna be a pretty decent centreback pairing!

Did you see Carvalho play last season?

No. Was he good?

In short, no. He may do well at QPR because of his knowledge of the PL but last season he looked flat footed and well past his best. Mourinho has been very loyal to him and doesn't want him to finish his career as a sub but he knows Carvalho is on the way out.

Was going to say the same. 34 years old and hardly kicked a ball last season, I will reserve judgement until I have seen him. Guaranteed that QPR have spunked comical amount of money on the deal though because, well it's QPR, it's what they do

SSN reporting that Sunderland and Wolves have agreed a fee for Steven Fletcher.

Also, Matt Connolly signs a 3 year deal taking him from QPR to Cardiff.

Reportedly £14m for Fletcher. About £1m less than Juve look set to pay for Llorente from Bilbao. Mad fee.

Always makes me :| when people compare different transfer markets.

A pint costs less than 50p in some places get I bet Stranded wouldn't think paying £3.50 was mad.

Juve have offered £12.5m for Llorente but his buy out clause is £28m

He'll go for closer to £20m i reckon

Javi Martinez to Bayern saga continues. Bayern offer €40M which is his buy out clause but Bilbao not letting him go, something about them arguing over who pays tax, I tried to understand it but got a headache

Did someone forget to tell Big Sam he can only have 25 in his squad (plus youngsters). At last count they were up to 37. Sam Allardyce - the new Barry Fry!

I wonder if this is possibly due to the fact that a lot of it is down to sell-on clauses. How many of the fees paid to the overseas are inflated by sell-ons? Gillingham are due to get a substantial amount of money and Wolves wanted to get as much as £6.5, never was going to get that much if they had accepted a lower fee.

That analogy would work if footballers prices were set based on tax, cost of production and cost of transport to new club

If I was a Wolves fan right now I'd be feeling like Reading fans have when Doyle, Sig, Long etc were sold.

Wonder how much they'll re-invest in the team.

I sort of think they'll re-invest a lot of it in the team, it always seems quite well-run at Wolves and the new stand must have its own pot of money. their problem might be in actually spending it on seriously good players - otherwise they might just end up like Leicester buying Matt Mills
