Fact - we won the Championship with a defence that conceded little and an attack that scored little! The goals that we got came from all over the field. We are now defending against far better forwards and have age problems at the back! Our strikeforce is now playing against a much better class of defender but, also, we have the ball far less often! The Pog is a good recruit but, even at Fulham, did not follow up his brilliant start with them! He is not, at a high level, a guaranteed one goal in two games player! Why do some people have problems with reality?

Andy Carroll is a top-class striker and WHU will be at least mid-table now, probably top half.

He's had one good PL season. He'd be in direct competition with Pogrebnyak and Roberts, rather than complimenting Pogrebnyak and he'd be on ridiculous wages. He doesn't fit, and his signing would be a worrying departure from how the club is run.

I'd rather have Pog. Caroll is great with his head, but I'm not convinced he will score many goals with his feet (as was the case at Liverpool). He is suited to a big Sam style hoofball team, not to us, in my opinion.

It's not an outlay i'd like to see RFC make, but as a footballer he'd be a great acquisition.

he is a class striker and, barring injury, will soon be up front for England on a regular basis

Agree. Pog probably didn't cost a huge amount more than this alleged loan fee in signing on fees, and is probably costing less than half in wages.

Carroll for a season is not twice the quality of Pog. If we didn't have Pog and Roberts, he'd be a good player to bring in, but way to expensive to be worth bringing in. Already having spent money on Pog and paying him and Roberts wages, it would be a criminal waste of resources.
