They're publishing it in Reading Matters. If the club are asked if we are interested in a certain player etc do you think after 20 days they have to disclose everything they are working toward?

Did you actually think this was a loophole Slammed "Only 19 days till your lucks up STAR"

Who rattled your cage? I was merely asking whether these notes had now been published and whether a STAR membering nobber had seen them. Was just surprised no-one had made any more mention of them, considering the furore on here the other week.

I don't want to join STAR. I'm afraid I don't think I'd fit in.

and if they were, your request can be ignored as it does not meet the definition of a request as defined in the act:

Request for information.

(1)In this Act any reference to a “request for information” is a reference to such a request which—
(a)is in writing,
(b)states the name of the applicant and an address for correspondence, and
(c)describes the information requested.
(2)For the purposes of subsection (1)(a), a request is to be treated as made in writing where the text of the request—
(a)is transmitted by electronic means,
(b)is received in legible form, and
(c)is capable of being used for subsequent reference.

Members of an IPS do have the right to ask for any information they requires, and to inspect minute books.

Because if you want to be represented by an organisation like that, it's your only way to affect change.

Why should it be for free? Is the equivalent of a couple of pints of beer a year too much for the chance to have your views listened to, and the right to choose the people who do the representing?

Forgive me, but I'm struggling to understand what exactly the principle is ... it seems like you want an organisation run by volunteers and which has no external funding to provide a range of benefits, including representation of your views, to you, and you want this as a right, without you being prepared to amke even a minimal financial contribution to that organisation's costs.

if I've misunderstood, please do explain what is the principle you're talking about here...?

FWIW they do, as best they can with the resources and people they have.

But who' to say what "Reading supporters' interests" actually are? Different people support Reading in different ways, and so their "interests" will vary in lots of ways.

What else do you expect STAR to do other than represent the Reading supporters who have joined them and so are participating, even in a small way.

In an ideal world supporters' organisations would be financially supported from within football itself (and this was actually a recommendation of the 1999 Football Task Force) - but this isn't an ideal world, and so what else do you reasonably want?
