Victor Meldrew View from the South:-
Ox and Cleverley both played like little boys lost and with no sense of calm.
Lampard and Milner just don't do enough.
Ref got most things right.
England players -keep your f*****g arms down.
ITV-Townsend with his lucky, lucky, lucky and he then pulls Tyldesley up for wrongly calling something lucky!!
Tyldesley within a space of 2 minutes:-
"Definite penalty" followed by "great save by Hart"-wrong on both counts.
Southgate in his post-match comments "The two Russian wingers"
How amateurish they are and to cap it all ITV have got next week's mouth-watering game of Man City v Real Madrid.

Yep, agree with ALL of that.

Good analysis.

Victor Meldrew
PBR U would think for over a decade of being a world class footballer and leader off and on the pitch and the amount of millions he makes, stephen gerrard could be able to avoid such a stupid sending off... WOW!

First time in 90 or so internationals isn't so bad is it?
The one player making things happen tonight and the classiest of our players by a distance.

Gerrard has had a really poor start to the season. Is he carrying an injury? Didn't watch the first half so can't really
comment on how he was today

LOL what a crap statement (as usual)........watching Milner in the flesh tonight, its amazing how much hard work he puts in - he was everywhere. And Credit to Lampard his link up play between defence and midfield was top notch

I'm guessing you're one of these clueless fans who think if a player isn't touching the ball every 2mins and shooting from every angle, then they have had a crap game

who are ya?
Ian Royal He proper smacked him in the face. It was dangerous

Not really m8, his elbow caught his cheek on the way down, hardly a Ben Thatcher-esque incident was it?

Yellow if dangerous, red if intent.

I didn't think England were very good but weren't as hopless as Alan Green on 606 was trying to make out.

In reality we are an average side with good prospects who need time.

Poor finishing let us down.

Ukraine was never going to be a walk-over...they should have beaten us in the euros.

Officials didn't do a lot awfully wrong despite the clamins by Hodgson and co.

Agreed that bit that peed me off was after Cleverly missing his his sitter in the first half. He went on and on about what a crap header by Defoe as he would definitely have been looking to score despite it being quite clear from his body shape and the fact he was actually looking toward Cleverly that he was purposely heading across to him for the tap in.

Oxlade Chamberlain is Mr Blind Alley - he's got some serious learning to do. Good strength, fast and quite skillful but I'm not sure he really knows how to play in a team. A season under the spotlight at Arsenal may not actually be what he requires right now. A year on loan would do him good. Somewhere down the M4 would do him right.

Oh and Craig Levein has haunted-man eyes. He wants out.

I think AOC needs to drop down to the U21's and play in his prefered position of AMC - then hopefully he'll be ready for 2014

Nope - Gerrard wasn't tight enough to the scorer - should have shown in him on the outside, but didn't.

That’s twice you’ve levelled that accusation at Gerrard, Kes. Twice wrong too. As against France in the Euros, Gerrard was only frantically trying to close the player down because our defence were standing in a line a few yards inside their own penalty box. The defence was too deep against France, and it was too deep on that goal last night. Something Roy needs to work on - there's a difference between two strong banks of four, and just inviting players to take pot shots.

Even Southgate said the same as me "Should have shown him on the outside".

The lad probably would score 1 in about 20 from there - but yes - Gerrard should have been a bit tighter - gave him too much room to move inside. You're always coached to show them on the outside.

Well if Gareth Southgate said it then it must be true.

Great goal from the Ukrainian player. It's typical of the "Alan Hansen mentality" that is prevalent in the football coverage in this country that good work from the attacker should be overlooked because of a supposed "defensive mistake". You can find a defensive mistake in every goal if you look closely enough or indeed if you have an agenda against a certain player.

Red card for Gerrard, Frank The Tank scores and Hillsborough in the news. Kes must have needed a sedative to get to sleep last night.
