sandman Glad I'm in the minority of sticking up for Reading players who get unfair abuse by their own "fans" just because those "fans" prefer a different player. The same goes for Hughes,Seol, Mills and others when the same was happening to them. Do you ever stop before you bite GenericRoyalFan to think about why I criticise McCarthy in such a ridiculous manner? It's mostly to wind you up (works quite well to) but it's also because that is the sort of unfounded and irrational stuff you throw at Federici. "Loyal" you don't know the meaning of the word.

Once again just like when he assumed I like players who "run around a lot" over on the TB royal91 presumes to know me. You keep calling me names because it makes you look like the very thing you accuse me of being. Btw you're on ignore so be gone with you.

Anyhoo lots of bites from the usual suspects so cheers.

I actually liked Hughes, maybe not so much Seol and Mills (mainly down to fingergate). I don't think I'm the only one who criticises Federici (I'm in the majority who can see that he isn't very good) and that the comments are fair.

Mondieu
W&E Royal Danny Guthrie is worth TEN Marek Matejovsky's.

Err, Marek - 800k. Guthrie - 0k.

No mention in that post of his cost. It was all about his WORTH. So your rather silly response is irrelevant.

tbf just making a tackle without giving away a foul would eclipse Matejovsky

For what it's worth, I'd have him back. Brings something completely different to the table, whether good or bad.

Marek was the worst player I have ever seen in a Reading shirt - I have never screamed at a referee to get a red card out for any other Reading players, for example - but I did enjoy the last few games he played with Rodgers as manager: every game had some nice passing to Howard, pinpoint through balls to non-existent forwards and an incident where he was bullied into losing the ball leading to a goal against us. Happy days.

Blimey.
There are so many ignorant fools on here.
Sandman is a visionary.
Our ticket to the Champions league is placed in front of you, and the forum degenerates into petty name-calling.

Can't you all see it?

A diamond formation in midfield, with "magic" Marek up top,
Paul Brooker and Sean Evers out wider,
Barrie Wagstaff at the back.

Guardiola would sh1t a brick.

What about Roger Joslyn?

Just found out why Joslyn was so crap for us.

Found this on a Watford website

You moved to Reading after Watford. Why Reading?

I didn’t have to move home, and that was important as my children were at school and also we were settled in the Watford area, hence why we still live here now. I also had the opportunity to sign for Swindon but they were not prepared for me to travel, which is understandable. So that’s why I went to Reading.

In 1981 you retired from the game after your hip got the better of you. Did you see it coming?

Yes I did. I started at the bottom at Colchester, which was a poorly run club. I went to Aldershot to make a move and I knew the coach and had a good time. Then on to Watford where it was fantastic. I then went to Reading and didn’t have the interest in it. It was like turning the clock back to Colchester. Poor training, poor facilities, poor travelling and generally badly organized. I really didn’t like it.

sandman Cheers pal.
Although I believe that Adam Federici kept a clean sheet today and that GenericRoyalFan is being very hard on himself.

In the minority again, sandman.

Marek Matejovsky has the best footballing-brain of anyone who has ever played for Reading. There were so many times he would read the game so quickly and pick out a killer pass that wasn't expected by anyone(fans and players alike), unfortunately his team mates just couldn't read what he was doing fast enough and many a chance would go a-begging, prompting people who simply weren't paying enough attention to be fooled into thinking Marek was to blame.

That's what the Marek lovers always say, it's rubbish. He was a man with talent but no football brain, hence why so many fouls and goals that came from them. I'm sure he's great but doesn't suit English football.
