I'm surprised by the knee-jerk optimism from many. I hope they turn out to be right, but...
For me the Wigan game is massive. A win is obviously immediately useful at the one-team level,
allowing us to leap-frog Wigan (IF we win) and we may well (IF we win) move away from Villa who have
a tough game v Arsenal.
But the real point of this second win (IF we win) is the hoodoo will be well and truly broken, confidence would be up,
and we really could begin a decent run (starting with avoiding defeat at Villa on Tuesday...)
But a DEFEAT at Wigan (highly possible according to the bookies who have us at 7/2 for a win, huge odds)
could throw us back into trouble, big worries etc, "Everton was a flash in the pan" etc, and might easily
be then followed by a defeat at Villa.
