interesting to note that Watford have signed a whole team of 11 from Udinese on loan... Is that even allowed?

Suppose so. Although isn't there a limit on the number of loanees you can have in a matchday squad? Used to be 5.

Thats what I thought. They have signed 11 loanees from Udinese. I just read that they are both owned by the same company so maybe that is why, but I still think either way that wasn't allowed.

While the FL regs say a maximum of four players on Temporary loan from one club in a season, I seem to recall that the rules for international loans are somewhat different.

You can have a maximum of 5 loanees in a matchday squad. Again international loans complicate this.

2011/12 FL Regs here:

Not for International loans..

Mind you not keen on the idea..even Zola didn't want most of them.

So if the loans have come in from abroad there is no limit to the amount you can have in a matchday squad?

How many loanees are you boys typically including in your squad at the moment?

All of them I think!

Zola will probably be made to play them as well.

Ian Royal Has anyone else noticed how the likes of Tamworth, Crowthorne, West Stand Flash, SDR et al only turn up when we're doing badly / expected to do badly? They revel in doom and despair.... they're like the four horsemen of relegation, only with a problem with prematurity.

But I'm always right

Who's to blame for our terrible summer transfers ........ Brian the "friends" manager or the limp wristed Madejski loving owner. So far they've fecked it up as I predicted

You lot must be so dim not to of seen this coming.

Anton .......... how's the planning permission coming along?, no you fool not the stadium.... will uncle Madejski allowing you to spend so money on players in January ?????

Looks like Portsmouth all over again minus player purchases just bleed the club like the last 5 years

I can see us being sellers in the upcoming window. We will offload as many of our more veteran players as we can for as much as we can get for them, probably to mostly upper tier Championship sides who have a realistic shot at promotion, while trying to hold onto our younger talent. We will buy lower league prospects to position ourselves for a quick rebuilding of the team in the offseason to try to get right back up.

And if we go that route, which I would put high odds we do unless something changes dramatically with our results between now and then, I would hope we would give our young players like Obita, D'Ath, and Samuel a chance to see what they can do. The future, at that point, will be now. The progression of our current team has come to the end of its road, it can go no farther.

The biggest problem with this is that some severe beatings may damage the future progress of Obita, D'Ath and Samuel. But, in general, I agree with this approach. Kiss this season goodbye and prepare for an assault on the Championship next season. And with the emphasis on passing the ball to team mates instead of brain dead hoof ball.

Well, maybe play them against the Villa's, Soton's, QPR's and Sunderland's of the league...along with cup games for as long as we are in it. I am not saying throw them to the proverbial wolves and start them at places like Old Trafford and alike. We need to start getting an idea of what we have, as early as we can, so we can start planning for next season.

We need to reassess how we got here and have a coherent strategy for the future. The players we brought in, who were supposed to be the difference makers for us this season, didn't fit with our style and likewise haven't made an impact. If we are going to play a direct style bring in players with the skill set to play that kind of game, and likewise bring in the right players if we plan to play a more passing oriented game. Why we brought in players like Guthrie and Pogrebnyak, who weren't a good fit for our direct style, comes down to McDermott and Hammond. McCleary still might come good but the only good pick-up we made during the summer was Shorey, ironically, a pick-up many people scoffed at, and some ridiculed, at the time.

Mapps looks decent as well. Gunter not so good. But yeah I agree with you it does all seem a bit strange, B Mcd bring in Guthrie and the Pog made me think we'd try and pass the ball around but he gave up on that after two or three matches and went back to hoof ball. What's frustrating is we spent a lot of money on those players and if we'd have bought in two quality cm's that fit with our system then we might have had a chance of staying up. But whether can afford or these players where available is up for debate. I hope all the harper hating crew can see what a class act him and sidders where when we came up last time.

There's no way we should be writing off this season at the point we are now. The rewards for staying in the Premiership this season are huge and we are four points from safety.

Agreed 9 wins and a couple of draws would do but at the current rate we are on target for just 3 wins.
