Let's be honest, we mugged them with the 3-1 last season. So the reverse this time, 3-1 Saints which undermines both sides defensive frailties. Our latest 'must win' loss en route to relegation.

It won't be the sweetest of games, given what we both need, but this will be the game where we HOLD the lead all the way to the end!

We were a bit lucky against them last season. They will pass it through our midfield no problem. Really want to see Guthrie in for Leig. Got a nasty feeling it will be decided in the midfield. Need a perfect performance all through the team. They willprobably have more confidence than us. If they are more clinical than last time we are in trouble.

Probably be a draw or worse which would be crap we need a win. This could decide the season. Lose and they go 6 clear. We have been disappointing all season. We are owed a professional display not the rubbish we put on at wigan and villa. Silly tactics and not thinking! Man u was patchy second galf we did little. First goal might be telling. We need to get it.

Not confident.

Two teams who are regularly scoring goals but can't defend their way out of a paper bag. 0-0 is particularly unlikely.

noelgallagher F*ck me this game is hard to predict. Personally, man for man I think they may just edge us in terms of quality. But only just. My gut instinct says 2-2 and a feisty old match. If we win it will be by two clear goals.

BcD got it right tactically against them last season. Hope he gets it right this season too.

Every game this season is massive, the old cliche "cup final" however this one is as important a match up as last seasons game at Saint Mary's. If not, more so.

He didn't get it tactically right at all. On any other day they would have buried us with the chances they had.

3-1 Saints

1-3, they are even more of a shambles than we are, particularly at the back

RFCSPACE 2-0 Saints. Lambert to run riot.

Last season was the most clinical (i.e. lucky and not repeatable) win I've ever watched. We were hopeless yet managed to steal 3 goals. This season we're hopeless and stealing goals isn't easy. This match will show just how far behind Southampton we actually are, and they are struggling in the PL with the best striker in the Championship last year, an England international (lol) and a £12M signing that most Reading fans would spunk over.

Interesting to see you making up your own definition of a word... clinical means lucky and not repeatable, rather than deliberate, repeatable and controlled does it?

Given the actual definition is: "extremely objective and realistic; dispassionately analytic; unemotionally critical" I think you may want to pick a different word in future.

Ian Royal 3-2 Saints.
Robert, McAnuff

Reading take the lead, Saints equalise, Saints take the lead, Reading pull it back, Reading go for the win, get sucker punched and lose another game, late winner for Saints.

That really is our style!

I'd rather lose 5 nil than have another game like the one you described!

No better at the back. No worse going forward. Might be slightly more solid in midfield. Could be high scoring. Likely to be won by an odd goal. Heart 2-3, head 3-2.

Fortuitous.

Regardless of what word I use, that wasn't really my point. We aren't going to win.

3-1 loss. Southampton run riot. Should be 5 up in the first half. We get a goal from a set piece.
