I've a bad feeling about this one, but am going to go with 2-2. Lambert twice for them, Leigertwood and Roberts for us.

Not sure I understand all the love for Southampton. They are rank, just as bad as we are, which is why they are in a relegation scrap. Like us, Villa and QPR, they are not good enough for the PL, just hoping that there are three teams worse than them. They’ll play the same brand of Championship football they did last season, looking for inspiration from Lallana or knocking diagonal balls over the top to Lambert.

The key area will be on their left flank – if HRK gives Cummings as little support as he did against United, we’ll have trouble. We need Morrison to concentrate against Lambert for the whole 90 minutes, although you have to cut him some slack, due to his age. And we need one of our strikers to drop into the hole and give another outlet to Leigertwood or Tabb. Too often, our central midfield has had to attempt to play straight balls out wide, which get cut out. We’ve got to stop playing in straight lines.

Although we defended poorly against Man U, they did play some really good stuff, which Southampton aren’t capable of. Against their defence, we’ll get chances. It really does depend which Reading team turns up. Southampton are there for the taking, as are we, but there’s no reason why we can’t or won’t score goals against them. Question is, can we score one more than they do?

The whoscored preview http://www.whoscored.com/Matches/615067/Preview/? has Southampton heavily favourites, funnily enough...

Hasnt Ramirez f*cked off back to Uruguay??

My Saints supported boss reckons he's gone back for a funeral or something.
Seeing as everything Saints do goes through him in the middle, then i'd value our chances. 3-1 Reading

If he plays, 3-1 Saints

Ian Royal 3-2 Saints.
Robert, McAnuff

Reading take the lead, Saints equalise, Saints take the lead, Reading pull it back, Reading go for the win, get sucker punched and lose another game, late winner for Saints.

That really is our style!

I'd rather lose 5 nil than have another game like the one you described!

Really hard to predict, given recent form and current positions - pure guesswork. In a way it might be better to get thoroughly beaten by fellow relegation strugglers - and force some serious re-think - rather than play well and lose a late one again. A marginal win would be a welcome relief, but wouldn't get us very far. Of course it would be even better to win with something to spare.

On the basis of our luck's gotta even out - I predict 1-3 ...

Bad feeling about this; they are slowly recovering from nightmare fixtures at start and they've spent millions and moved forward whereas we've stayed in the championship in terms of set up

We will score first in first 15 mins but will be behind by half time and lose 4-1

My first away game this season.

Going to predict something utterly mental. Reading win AND a Reading clean sheet.

Not looking forward to this... Southampton are going to be so up for it from last year and they are on a good run of results. They are going to dominate our Midfield; well if a team doesn't against our midfield as it is then you better start playing your trade in league 1. With that said I can only see a Saints victory.

Would be good to see Guthrie start and play a 4-5-1, wingers further forward, not Guthrie. We win, confidence will be high if we lose than I can't see no way back, draw ok but have to beat a harder opponent Sunderland.

Hopefully McDermott pulls a Rabbit out of his magic hat like last year.

FFS. Against Norwich City who had the draw in their minds after the first minute? Have you seen our defending this season and more importantly Southampton's attacking play? If we keep a clean sheet I will remove myself from this forum. Big deal.
