Surely MOTM for Sidwell today. Fantastic performance.

EDIT: Berbatov, somehow put in a better performance??? Anyone else watch the game?

Sidwell gave away a couple of silly free kicks.

Missed our chance.

This was a signing we should and probably could have made during the summer when Sidwell wasn't really in favour at Fulham.

Instead Brian blew his time and budget on signing a couple of PL players who don't fit in with him and his preferred style of play!

Sidwell looked excellent and much too good to be discarded by Fulham in January. MotM in any sane assessment of the match.

Is in his last season though? Could they take a small fee now rather than letting him go for free? I can't see it happening any other way.

Jimbo Started for Fulham tonight and has scored. Looking more unlikely I'm afraid.

Ditto. As much as I would love to see Sidders back, I can't see why he would swap them for us if he is getting first team football in a team liely to stay up :(

I am led to believe from FFC box holder friends ITK that Sidders is still OOF and likely to move on. A move back to Reading next month has been on the cards for a couple of months.

Why would he join us when we are going down? Explain.... Do you think he would take a drop in wages? Unlikely.

The reality is we will sign some poor premier league players (as we have now) or good championship players (as we have now).

UNLESS we are going to spend significantly and gamble.... Doubtful.

Sidwell is not coming back to Reading and anyone thinking he will is deluded. He starts for Fulham in a team that could finish top 8. Why don't we go the whole hog and get Long and Sig back.

Players don't care about any club only their own ambition to reach the top of the footballing ladder. Reading need to bin the loyalty approach because I can guarantee if we were doing well, they would have one eye on going to a bigger team. Its the same with managers.

The only loyal people in football are the fans.

Also under the impression* that Sidwell wants to return to Reading. But looking unlikely that he will this season given his recent form tbh

*just to clarify, I have no idea when or why I thought this so its almost definitely BS

The only thing I'll add to this is I wouldn't be surprised to see Fulham implode in the second half of the season. There's some strange stuff going on behind the scenes.

Sidwell might be playing but he was instrumental in the divide we had in the dressing room in 07/08 (e.g. re: players bonuses/squad photo) and there are a few strong characters that have been having very open disagreements with the manager / making life difficult in and around the training ground. If some of them don't get moved on you could see a squad divide emerging.

They surely wouldn't sell him unless they got a couple of midfielders in so can't see it happening, plus he's in good form. He is very close to some of the members of our current team, still socialises with the players after games some saturdays etc - stranger things have happened. + with his wife he has a very limited catchment area of teams he can choose from. Whipped.

Berbatov isn't behind anything going on there though, he's been head down and getting on with it.

Hinsight is a winderful thing!

...if someone asked me if I'd rather sign Guthrie or Sidwell in the summer, I would have picked Guthrie without even thinking!

Am I misunderstanding what you're saying ?

He wasn't even with us for the 07/08 season :?

It was when I read about this event in the Secret Footballer that I decided the player couldn't be Kitson, the captain in question just didn't sound anything like Murts.

So was that actually something that happened?

Didn't sound like Murts public persona, sounds just like Murts actually was with the team though

Consdering Sidwell left in summer 2007, that would be quite an achievement for him to be a a key player in dressing room unrest!
