blueroyals Why was Samuel brought on as a winger ahead of Obita?
He wasn't, we've put the Irish Messi onto left wing instead

Cripple Creek A lot of Newcastle fans were pretty pissed off when they lost Guthrie as they really rated him. The poor guy must be regretting he didn't stay at Newcastle and fight for his place, a footballer's career is a short one and he has pretty much lost a season of it to Reading.

He might get the last laugh as he will probably come back when McD is gone

Agreed. January won't change anything. Who of any quality will join a sinking ship? Quality players want to win games. It is time to just to admit we are down and lets use this time we have to give much experience to our youth players, they can't do any worse than currently on the pitch.

Where did it all go wrong ?????
Danny Guthrie believes playing for Reading could help him secure a dream England call-up.
The 25-year-old midfielder was persuaded to join the club on a free transfer from Newcastle United after interrupting his honeymoon in Dubai to speak with Royals manager Brian McDermott and director of football Nick Hammond.
Guthrie, who has agreed a three-year deal, will meet his new team-mates tomorrow when Reading return to training and he is eager to impress at Madejski Stadium and alert England manager Roy Hodgson of his qualities.
“I’ve come here to play and if that happens then I think it will give me a chance of breaking into the England squad,” he told the Reading Post.
“I think it’s exciting times with the England set-up and if you’re good enough you should get a chance, regardless of the club you play for.
“That’s the way I’m looking at it. I know I will get a chance to play at Reading and that if I’m playing well I’ll stay in the team.
“It hasn’t always been like that before.
“It’s exciting times, but also a bit nerve-wracking as it feels like it’s my first day at a new school tomorrow.
“I’m excited to get going after being part of a great bunch of lads at Newcastle United for the last four years.
“Last season I played some of the best football of my career, but no matter how well I played someone else would come in.”
