Two Icelanders joining Reading

by IcelandicStokie » 18 Dec 2012 15:11

Two Icelandic youth internationals who were on trial at Reading in the middle of October are set to join the club as fees have been agreed with both clubs to whom the players belong.

16 yr old Keflavík midfielder Samuel Kari Fridjonsson and 16 yr old Vikingur Reykjavik midfielder Tomas Ingi Urbancic are the players in questions and both are regular U-17 internationals.

Will they go straight into the team to face Spurs on New Year's Day? Are they better than Gylfi?

No, but they got potential just like Gylfi had when he came to Reading. The question is, will they fulfill their potential. This could turn out to be a great business but they could also be another Viktor Unnar Illugason, whom I rated higher than Gylfi when they arrived at the same tme

Viktor Illugason is playing his trade in Iceland, not doing that well. Looks very very average and seldom scores. He looked a great talent but 98% of the time, thats all these players are, only few go on to excel.

Ah good. Hope they develop like Gylfi aswell and become their own players - not some awful long balls players who had their potential ruined by the club....

EDIT: Is this the Tómas, being referred to? It's got to be :P

They're 16. We wont see anything of them for at least two years.
