The Real Sandhurst Royal Why defend the ref he was extremely poor and intent on using his whistle at every opportunity to give West Ham a free kick with Nolan in his ears all game.

When Reading were clattered or fouled nothing given, the Cole incident on Gunter a prime example when he put his blinkers on when it was right in front of his eyes.

Worst ref at the Mad Stad this season by a mile.

Difficult game to Ref, thought O'brien tried to make his mark on Kebe, 1st half early, definately from last year, cole is a dirty twat, shouldn't have been playing anyway Did he stamp on Gunter 2nd half, Ref played advantage on Pog, but ref missed blatant challenge on ?????? in the d, that was poor, Lino was shocking in front of west stand 2nd half. But who cares 3pts. :D :D

He was awful! Most biased ref I've seen, he gave literally EVERYTHING to the hammers, how Cole didn't get sent off I don't know!

you need to get to a few more games Ross

Not the best, but at least he did try to play the advantage....then pulled players back for their bookings etc

Seen plenty worse, and I think that we have been victims of plenty worse in just this season already.

The ball had moved away in both the Cole and Nolan incidents but they are both potential reds so as he obviously missed them they might still get a ban.
Agree about the comment about the lino who should have spotted at least one of them...probably Cole's.
The ref was very poor however and after the red cards last year it was a no brainer to have a much more experienced ref at this one.

Yeah, a premier league referee should not be reffing what would of been a championship fixture

Yep the referee was very poor today, couldn't control the game at all. Seemed to not want to put the whistle in his mouth half the time only to then whip out a yellow card out of nowhere.

Ok there was obviously a bit of niggle in the match but he did nothing to clamp down on it.

I think he knew that and deliberately avoided bookings in the first half unless absolutely blatant - otherwise he'd have been in a situation where he had to send people off.

for instance if he'd booked Nolan in the first half for dissent (as he arguably should have done) then when Nolan scythed down HRK in teh second he'd have had to have given out a red.

Yes but it didn't stop, did it? Should've got a grip on it early doors from the moment they started trying to lump Kebe

SCIAG No, that match was just impossible to referee.

If he was biased, he wouldn't have booked Tomkins for dissent, and wouldn't have allowed Hunt to keep the ball in the corner.

West Ham were going down at every opportunity, and there were a few off the ball incidents that you couldn't expect him to see. Oliver also couldn't be expected to know that West Ham were going to deliberately target Kebe, and then we didn't make it easy for him by protesting almost as furiously and exaggerating contact. If Oliver had given out too many cards, it would have fallen apart.

He didn't have a good game, but I think accusations of bias are unfounded- just an inexperienced ref backed up against the wall.

Sorry, but how exactly can the referee stop a player holding the ball in the corner? It's not illegal.

How could he have known they'd have targetted Kebe? Oh, I don't know, done some research first? Paid attention to the fact that they were targetting Kebe once the game started and they went straight in on him within the first couple of minutes?

I can accept he didn't see Cole lashing out at Gunter. I can't accept he didn't see Cole going through Kebe deliberately, because he was looking straight at it.

cannot disagree Mags

But then, I would award penalties for tugging shirts and bear-hugs in the penalty box during corners etc

Generally I thought he was OK and was in no way biased, but he should've been made aware of the "previous" in this fixture and if he'd booked O'Brien for his 1st minute thuggery it would've laid down a marker for the rest (well actually the whole as it was that early) of the game

Jacko_Lantern Anyone else reckon he had a soft spot for Hammers?

yeh, he was using a hammers shirt as a vest

some of these refs couldnt make it anymore obvious

terrible display - mnuff foul in the 1st half on the edge of the pen area was a perfect example, every time the ball went into the box he blew for a foul, yet we didnt get that at Citeh - what a joke this league is

2nd worst after the Reading Arsenal game - played extra "Arsenal[big team] time", crucial stonewall penalty not given at 4-1, player who setup 1 goal and scored 3rd i think should have been sent off for a 2nd clear yellow card offence, other than that he was great

i am genuinely shocked at how bad the refs are in the premier league and how biased they are to the big or established teams
