I'm fortunate enough to watch us in crystal clear HD every week and to be honest I don't care if it's scrappy, lucky or whatever.

Great spirit these last two weeks, and whilst we do lack quality, we're keeping ourselves in with a chance of survival if we fight like this.

This game was down to two factors, Federici in the first half and Alfie in the second.

Feds had a good game and probably owed a performance like that.

Game swung when Cabaye was knackered and got subbed, he was by far the best player on the pitch. Then Alf came on and did his natural born goalscorer routine. Probably stole it overall but it made up for their getting a fortuitous point at the Mad Stad.

First game for a few years, don't have the funds to come down for home games (Live in North Yorkshire) but it was an incredible comeback once again.


Federici for MOTM, kept us in the game, some reaction saves to stop Ba and Cabaye, can't fault him for the FK, few keepers would have saved that.

Guy near me got thrown out shortly after the second game by security, sad to see, was screaming and cursing the whole match while sat about 3-4 feet from a dad and his toddler.

Bet the 1,000 fans that went are delighted. Fair play to them.

Adam le fondre is an absolute hero and is the ultimate super sub. He doesn't do this when he starts games but when he comes on he makes the most of tired defenders.

Stephen kelly was solid at RB. Akpan looked a bit below average, good physical presence, but was panicked on the ball and needs more composure but that will come with time. He looks promising.

Though Federici was definitely my MOTM. Without him we would of been out of it by half time. Well done Fedders your proving all the doubters wrong.

Second half we looked like a premiership team. Well done Reading and well done Mcdemott! Onwards and upwards! COYR

the Geordies are in total free fall and just can't seem to halt their slide down the table and you have to now say they are in very serious danger of going down

Big critic of Ledge - but today he was immense. Definitely needed that week off.
Some nice on the ground simple passing today. Looked good all round.

Well that was an interesting game. I thought McDermott got the starting line up slightly wrong and left us too open to Newcastle, and first half it did look that way. He seemed to have sacrificed some midfield defensiveness for more attacknig threat and it didn' really work. But it did enough, with some blinding saves by Fed, to keep things tight enough that we were still always in the match.

Second half, I wasn't sure he got the subs exactly right, but it paid off and we took advantage of Federici's brilliance and Newcastle's profligacy in front of goal, as well as their significantly weakened midfield.

Federici - 9 he's really back in form. Some great stops.
Kelly - 7 good debut, don't remember him getting a great deal wrong - played Cabaye on first half is about all.
Harte - 7 similar to Kelly, apart from the debut bit, think he also played someone on first half.
Pearce - 8 very intelligent player, I fooking love him
Mariappa - 7 lost Cisse a couple of times, but generally good
Leigertwood - 8 best game in ages, didn't lose it much, played it simple and put in some superb balls to Kebe.
Guthrie - 7 some very good balls. Again, this could just be a case of finding it hard to pick out the good stuff he does as its early in a move and deep. That's much easier to see live.
Kebe - 9 MOTM was a real threat all game. Struggled to find the killer pass / shot / run a lot of the time, but delivered enough to make the difference. Assist for goal one and the knock down for goal 2. He's turned into a target man!
McAnuff - 7 becoming the usual quiet game from McAnuff. Not a lot of threat, though unlucky to be called off first half. Some very good defending back late on.
McCleary - 6.5 worried Newcastle a bit but went off early seemingly with an injury. Didn't do any real damage
Pog - 7.5 worked hard feeding off scraps all game. snatched at a couple of shots, but leads the line well

ALF - 9 I fooking love ALF.
Akpan - 7 great assist for ALF's second - with a bit of work could be Leigertwood 2.5. A promising debut

McDermott - 7.5, not sure he got it completely, right, but we won, so wtf do I know.
Ref - 7 didn't get much wrong at all.
Reading fans - 10. big respec' to yous.

This was the thing that stood out for me today. He nodded one down for Pog to fire over early in the second half, he did the same for our second goal. Finally he's not scared of anything flying towards his noggin - maybe that diving header last week taught him that it doesn't hurt that much

Leigertwood - 8 best game in ages, didn't lose it much, played it simple and put in some superb balls to Kebe.

That is all he has to do. Keep it simple and mop up. He is a very good defensive midfielder.
