Speculation - Matej Vydra

by Royalcop » 08 Jan 2013 10:19

Brought to my attention by Opta Joe on Twitter:

48% - Watford's Matej Vydra has the best shot conversion rate of any player in the Championship this term (12 goals from 25 shots). Pinpoint.

He's one of Watfords Udinese loanees, only 20 and has already been capped by the Czech Republic. With half an eye on a Championship promotion campaign next season he might be worth a look, assuming Udinese don't want him back that is.

Can't see their owners selling any decent players to better clubs. Will just end up being loaned to one of Pozzo's other two clubs. Why sell a decent player to Reading when he can just give them to Grenada in La Liga or Udinese?

Gotta say thought he looked quality when I watched there game vs Brighton not to long ago, looked pretty pacey with a decent trick up his sleeve, wouldn't make much of an impact in prem I think however if we are buying for the future he'd def be worth trying to get.

We must sign this lad In the summer! One for the future and one who will do a job immediately.

LOL
Considering there is a good chance Watford will be in the PL next season and he'd be very expensive there is no chance whatsoever of this happening.

This. Watford have financial backing similar to ours and considering they may well take our place next season, I can't see him picking us over them.

Well if you think about how much Soton got Rodriguez for who was either the top or was amongst the top scorers in the NPC, I cannot see him going for anything less than £6 million.

Watford will have him signed on if they go up no doubt about it.

Think we should look at options such as Jackson from Norwich and Sharp from Soton and as mentioned by others maybe one or two loanees from our partnership with Galatasary.

i dont think the price will be that heavily inflated, it is a fact that english players are always overly priced. rodriguez is a english player who was near the top of the championship scoring table. vydra is from the czech republic and therefore will not be as highly inflated. if watford do not go up this season, since he is on loan we might have a decent shot at signing him if we can persuade him. this is why adkins was brought in, imo.

Why would Udinese get rid of a bright young talent?

Because they don't need him?

He'll stay with Watford or go back. We don't have a chance of getting him.

They're going to need him or another striker at some point in the near future because Di Natale, who they rely heavily on, is 35 and can't go on forever.

No, it's an inaccurate cliché. Players based in England are overpriced, not English players necessarily. This is because the average English club is much more financially secure than the equivalent club in another country.

Vydra's club are very financially secure, and simply put, won't sell him to us. He'll remain with the Pozzos until someone offers more than he's worth.

I haven't seen him play in Italy, might it be that he's better suited to the English game?

Or maybe that he's only 20 and they wanted him to get experience in a competitive league?
