Royal Lady Conversely, I've always thought some of Feds' kicking has been atrocious in the past. McCarthy always seemed to have better distribution to me. Which is why I queried it.

Alexander Litvinenko But when you're playing one up front, and he's 5' 9" and up against a 6' 3" centre back, surely any hoofing it forward by either 'keeper is going to be pretty pointless?

Not if you hit the channels and its a low kick like Feds does......

Alexander Litvinenko Absolutely agree. But the wingers couldn't commit forward for fear of being completely overrun in midfield.
But playing one up front is pretty pointless if teh one isn't suited to that game. If the wingers aren't going to come forward for the long kick .......

sandman If you have a problem with him kicking it to the 5'9" lone front man ALF (which he didn't really do often because most of the time his kicks went to the wings) take it up with the manager who A. Selected Alfie up front on his own and B. Clearly said in his interview that he wanted Feds to distribute the ball quickly.
Keeper only did what he was instructed to do.

Terminal Boardom The likelihood of giving up possession with a 50 yard punt upfield is greater than if the ball is thrown out to full backs or wingers. You don't win games if you keep giving the ball away.

Jay o/ McCarthy had two games under his belt and was match fit, so he should have played. Feds has form for throwing his toys out of his pram when McCarthy was ahead of him before, so it wouldn't surprise me if he reacted to McCarthy's inclusion over him and kicked up a fuss. Either way he's one personality at the club that I genuinely can't stand and wont miss, and I hope he moves on in the summer. McCarthy will be the better keeper given the games.Ian RoyalRoyal Lady Conversely, I've always thought some of Feds' kicking has been atrocious in the past. McCarthy's kicking is nowhere near as good as Federici's. He doesn't get the distance, or flat trajectory that Fed can get to help out our players win it. I'd say it's the one big weakness I've seen. Although it does means he'll throw it more often because he has to.
Federici's kicking yesterday was miserable. Two went out for throw ins, and the rest were just bam get it down the field as soon as possible and hope to god we get the rub of the green. McCarthy would have offered no more and no less in that respect.
sandman Prove it. All I've heard anyone say is that he is very professional and is often one of the first and last in training.
