Snowball How many days ago was I being told by the same people now saying "If not for McCarthy" that the keeps was an important player?

you also insanely suggested that a keeper doing what hes supposed to have and stopping the ball going into the net alot, is all luck and doesnt count towards whether a team "should" win or not
so its no wonder everyone ignored you

No, I said relying on it long-term is a big mistake.

The better sides have keepers with nothing to do

Come off it. Man Utd spent £18m on a keeper to help keep goals out; Man City and Chelsea have spent to get two of the best keepers in the world in Hart and Cech; if they could have keepers with nothing to do they'd save the money and spend even more on outfield players

4. The team tried to pass and even when it went wrong (Adkins said it would go wrong)
the team didn't drop their heads. HT worked and we fought well second half.
T.

Wasn't the reaction of the crowd alot to do with that? This time we didnt groan, boo and and go quiet when a bad pass was made, we got behind the team, encouraged them, and that fed through

To continue the debate:

It is my earnest opinion that a confident display by the goalkeeper, supported by great saves when required can only encourage belief by defenders - and indeed the whole team - making a lower number of goals conceded a possibility, or even a probability.

No decent manager ever thinks, oxf*rd it, we don't need a defence because the keeper will stop them.

Top keepers are there for the big games against big clubs, and because even shite sides tend to get 1-2 chances

Tops sides try to buy top keepers, so?

Man Utd have to play Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton

A greta keeper can win the league in just those ten games

And then, against the smaller sides there will sell be chances

Now add in Europe

But no logical manager RELIES on his keeper. Fergie and Co would rather their
keeper never touches the ball

Man Friday
windermere_royal
Man Friday I didn't think yesterday's was a penalty but why is it that MOTD don't discuss OUR penalty claims in their post match reviews? This is the second time in succession that this has happened.

Because there was nothing to discuss

MOTD pundits always find things to discuss. Except when it might be a decision against us.

The only discussion would have been whether Jobi should have been booked for 'simulation' and why he didn't put a cross in.

I would say all good managers rely on ALL their squad members. That aside, the first statement made was "the better sides have keepers with nothing to do". That has since been qualified by making the opposite statement, i.e even the weaker sides against the top sides get 1-2 chances. :o
