Royals to snap up La Liga defender?

Reading are interested in Granada centre-half Inigio Lopez, according to ClubCall.com.

The 30-year old, in a similar situation to Alex Pearce, is refusing to sign a new contract at the La Liga club, so is looking elsewhere. Swansea are also interested in the defender, who has struggled to gain a regular place in the Granada first team this campaign.

Lopez has openly admitted he would like a move to England, but the Royals' relegation may provide a few barriers for Nigel Adkins. I think we need to bring in an experienced defender in the summer, but I'm not sure if this guy is really what we should be looking for. Completely different tempo in England.

TBH, Mariappa's got plenty of Chump experience, so we're not too lacking there, even if we lose Pearce and Gorkss. I'd rather we were looking at someone who's early 20s and could maybe make the step up with us in a season or two. Because if we get this guy, there'd be a question about whether he's good enough for the PL now (if he is why come to us) and how long he'll last with us.

They should have a slightly less torrid time of it next season. I like Mariappa although I am worried about Morrison's positioning. A year in the chump will do them both good.

Think someone got this a bit muddled....... Given Carrico's position it should have been 'La Liga to snap up Royals defender'.
