Speculation - Paul Scharner

by St. Brynjar » 11 May 2013 20:26

33 years old, out of favour at Hamburg and can clearly still do the business. I thought he was MOTM against us in their 3-0 win earlier this season, and looked tidy in the FA Cup Final today. Any chance we could make him the new Gunnarsson as cover for every position except for striker? Probably a bit out of our reach, especially if Wigan go down with us.

at 33 you think he'd be happy being cover? he will want to play or he will want to retire i suspect.

Meant to say replace Pearce and then cover anywhere we need him to on top of that.

Why would he choose us over Wigan?

If we buy anyone, I would love us to get Shaun Maloney. Never going to happen but he is exactly what we need.

How about McManaman and Kone as well, and that lad who plays for Barcelona up front is pretty good too.

What so outrageous about us going for Maloney?

He wont have any trouble finding a new Premier League club. A Championship club wouldn't stand a chance.

Apart from QPR - who would probably pay him £300,000 a week.

You're probably thinking of Leigertwood.

This, he is an excellent player, potential to go to a top half side.

Im not doubting how good he is, but he's about 30 years old. Surely most premier league teams will have someone as good or better at a younger age.

33, in fact. I'm sure people will have better, younger options. But he's said he wants to go back to Hamburg.
