Cortese, Pochettino & Adkins

by grey_squirrel » 16 May 2013 11:13

Interesting that Pochettino is now threatening to quit Southampton, should Cortese pack his bags.

It could just be posturing, but it begs the question, would they re-approach Adkins should this happen and would he consider going back?

I doubt it on both counts

They'll be in a position now to approach someone of higher quality

This did cross my mind when I read Pochettino was uncertain of his future if Cortese left. You oculd imagine there being a clamour for Adkins to return amongst the Southampton fans but I'd be surprised if it happened. Even if they wanted him to return, I have my doubts about whether he'd walk out on us for a club that sacked him only a few months ago - though it wouldn't be completely out of the question.

Maybe if he did leave we could bring back Brian McDermott as his replacement!

As there's on-going litigation over his sacking and compensation payments, I doubt he'd want to go back. And if it did it might also jeopardise any payment he'd receive from that action. As he's now employed with us he may be better off staying put and pocketing any money he gets out of Saints.

He's also a decent human being and wouldn't walk away from a club 2 months into a 3 a year contract to go back to a club which sacked him in the first place.

This is all a load of hullabaloo about nothing though, it's just Cortese being his usual manipulative oxf*rd self.

Wont happen. Saints have their sights set a lot higher these days.

Blimey, who's going to take over the over inflated bullshit ideas that they seem to have.

You need to reach for the smelling salts whenever you hear/read some of their great plans. I suppose it has to be done while they've still got the premier league supporters who've jumped ship from Pompey.

Adkins is staying here with us.

Agree that it's extremely unlikely.

Depends on our respective League positions at the time too...
