It's an error in the survey - it will still record your answers :)

There have now been 722 responses. 638 of these from within the UK. 21 from USA. Others from Canada, Australia, Saudi, China and most major European countries. Not everyone answered all questions, so I'll show you the scores as they are now.

The most popular players (that >90% of people want to stay) are: McCarthy, Kelly, Gunter, Morrison, Mariappa, McCleary, HRK, Carrico, Guthrie, Akpan, Karacan & ALF. Mariappa is just about the most popular player on this basis. Apart from ALF, Akpan and Carrico in and Jobi & Pog out, that is almost our end of season starting XI.

The least popular players (that >50% wanted to sell) are: Federici, Gorkss, Ledge and Pog. Ledge just beats Feds as the player you'd most like to sell.

Most of the young players you want to be loaned out, the highest Keep score for a young player is Obita 66% followed by Hector at 46% and Samuel at 40%. This implies that these are the young players that you would like to see in the first team squad next year.

On the next post. I will show all of the stats in full....

Scores now in for Keep. Loan or Sell Survey:

by shaka's shorts » 21 May 2013 22:39

Here they are in full: All scores rounded up to nearest % & ignoring the don't knows unless they are a over 5% (which is why they don't all add up to 100%)

Keepers:
McCarthy Keep 97%, Loan 1%, Sell 2%
Feds Keep 33%, Loan 1%, Sell 65%
Taylor Keep 32%, Loan 4%, Sell & Release (he is out of contract) 61%
Andersen Keep 52%, Loan 24%, Sell 19%, Release 3%
Henly Keep 31%, Loan 58%, Sell 1%, Release 1%

Full Backs:
Harte Keep 6%, Sell & Release combined 93%
Shorey Keep 18%, Sell & Release comb 80%
Kelly Keep 94%, Loan 1%, Sell 4%
Gunter Keep 92%, Loan 1%, Sell 6%
Cummings Keep 74%, Loan 10%, Sell 13%, Release 1%
Arnold keep 20%, Loan 58%, Sell 1%, Release 2% (don't knows 20%)

Centre Backs:
Gorkss Keep 17%, Loan 1%, Sell 56%, Release 23%
Pearce Keep 32%, Loan 1%, Sell& Release combined 64%
Morrison Keep 97%, Loan 1%, Sell 1%
Mariappa Keep 99%, Sell 1%
Hector keep 46%, Loan 43%, Sell 1% (don't know 10%)
Sweeney 18%, Loan 65%, Sell 1%, Release 2% (don't know 13%)

Wingers:
McAnuff Keep 74%, Loan 1%, Sell 22%, Release 1%
Kebe Keep 69%, Sell 29%, Release 1%
McCleary Keep 97%, Loan 1%, Sell 1%
HRK Keep 96%, Loan 1%, Sell 2%
Obita Keep 66%, Loan 32%, Sell 1%

Midfield:
Karacan Keep 93%, Loan 1%, Sell 4%
Guthrie Keep 91%, Sell 7%
Carrico Keep 92%, Loan 2%, Sell 3%
Akpan Keep 91%, Loan 6%, Sell 2%
Ledge Keep 16%, Loan 1%, Sell 66%, Release 15%
Tabb Keep 12%, Loan 2%, Sell & Release comb 85%
Taylor Keep 12%, Loan 52%, Sell & Release comb 27%
D'Ath Keep 20%, Loan 64%, Sell 5%, Release 4%

Striker:
Pog Keep 34%, Loan 1%, Sell 59%, Release 5%
Hunt Keep 25%, Loan 1%, Sell & Release comb 72%
ALF Keep 93%, Sell 7%
Blackman Keep 71%, Loan 12%, Sell 14%, Release 1%
Roberts Keep 37%, Sell 14%, Release 45%
Church Keep 7%, Loan 3%, Sell & Release comb 90%
Samuel Keep 41%, Loan 49%, Sell 1%, Release 3% (don't know 6%)

So, in SUMMARY, you want to:
Keep: McCarthy, Andersen, Kelly, Gunter, Cummings, Mariappa, Morrison, Hector, McAnuff, Kebe, HRK, McCleary, Karacan, Carrico, Guthrie, Akpan Obita, ALF & Blackman (19 players)
Loan: Henly, Arnold, Sweeney, D'Ath, J Taylor & Samuel (6)
Sell: Federici, Gorkss, Ledge & Pog (4)
Release: S Taylor, Harte, Shorey, Pearce, Tabb, Hunt & Church (7).

I forgot Joseph Mills and ignored Sheppard and Brett Williams (assuming both released anyway)

Which looks like we will need to buy a LB, CB & 2 strikers, which would give us a squad of 23 players covering each position....

Sounds about right,

I'm more inclined in thinking we need a bigger overhaul that that, a true clean out though.

Generally agree with the consensus other than the selling of Federici. He'd still be the best thing since sliced white if it wasn't for McCarthy. Surely having two of the best (if not the two best) keepers in the Championship can only be a good thing. TSI's black hole protector means that we could keep them both and ditch the lack-luster Taylor.

Good survey, QI.

Why would the 2nd Best GK in the league want to sit on the bench?

If one stays, the other will go. It's that simple.

Good stuff. Surprised so many want to see Pog gone. It all seems pretty sensible other than that.

Absolutely - and quote 'the wisdom of the crowds' theory which I think this fits well.

Absolutely, Fox - I teach the Wisdom of Crowds theory as a marketing trainer so now I can use this as a live example too.....

For those who haven't read it. The theory is that a crowd of non experts will be more accurate at predicting an outcome than a single expert as there inaccuracies balance each other out....

85% want to get rid of Tabb then. I thought that he had quite a few ardent supporters on here? (Personally I don't think he good enough to play football at either PL or FL level).

I tried to answer the poll as realistically as possible in that while I would like certain players to stay and some other to leave it is not all going to happen this summer.

For example Gorkss, based on the last year I would prefer us to sell him but that would mean buying two CB's this summer so we aren't left short (personally I don't want Hector as our 4th choice next year, he could do with another loan spell and would prefer Carrico to compete for a midfield position) so based on that I would happily keep him as fourth choice as he can probably still do a job in the champ.

Same situation with the keepers, I think McCarthy will stay, Federici will leave (and he should as he is too good and now experienced to sit on the bench) as will Anderson (I would like him to stay and compete but tbf in his eyes he will be firmly 2nd choice and unlikely to get much game-time barring injury) that leaves Henly and Taylor. I haven't been impressed with what I have seen from Taylor, never directly at fault for the goals but looked rusty in every game and I remember thinking during a few games he could have done a bit better with a few saves, doesn't instill confidence in the back line. Despite all that I would keep him and have him and Henly fighting for 2nd GK as there are other areas I would rather spend money.

Whilst I would like both Gorkss and Taylor to move on eventually I would delay it for now as other wise we are buying a lot of players in the summer and are more likely to spread the money finer and get lower quality players

Absolutely gobsmacked that 22% of people would sell McAnuff and only 34% would keep Pog. I've always thought for next season build a team around Pog and Guthrie. These two are key players in my mind. Getting rid of McAnuff (who this season has been a constant performer, from what I've heard and seen on the TV highlights on MOTD), leaves me . But people are all entitled to their opinions, so let them be like that.
