Reading FC line up Swansea friendly

Reading FC will host Swansea in a pre-season friendly a week before they begin their Championship campaign.

Paulo Sousa's Capital One Cup winners will visit the Madejski Stadium on Saturday, July 27.

The game, which kicks-off at 3pm, is the second confirmed pre-season friendly for the Royals, adding to the trip to Wycombe Wanderers on July 13.

If it's a fiver adults or something like that then we'll go, but I'm not wasting more than that on a friendly. I can wait one more week for our first league defeat of the season.

Will be a decent test, Swansea should be taking it seriously as their European adventure starts fairly early (IIRC), both teams will be trying to play football....

Certainly doesn't set the heart racing, but a logical enough choice

So we've gone from playing them in the richest match in the world a couple of years ago to them gracing us with their presence for a pre-season friendly. Talk about embarrassing.

At least it's not Palace again (though ironically we probably won't play them for a while now).

Fingers crossed for Swindon as I enjoyed the trip there a couple of years back. Other than that, Oxford obviously - Brentford would be fun.

Not going to bother watching us get out-passed and Adkins coming up with his usual post match positive drivel, got better things to do!

2 more confirmed friendlies:

Wednesday 24th July, 7.45pm - Bristol City vs Reading (A) - £10 a ticket
Sunday 28th July 3pm - Bristol Rovers vs Reading XI (A)

Leaves the space for a tour for the team dwindling, and would have to be in between the 13th and 24th with probably 2 games if there is to be one I imagine.

Players are back to training on 27th June so there is still time for some sort of pre-season "tour" shenanigans at some point on the calendar.

Or "Go out there and have a game of which team can keep the ball in their own half the longest".

Portugal again then - flying out on Sunday 14th July and 2 games likely, 1 on 16th vs top flight Belenenses in Lisbon; and a 2nd game TBC on Friday 19th July.

Big Foot
EASTENDER MARKY Think they were planning on going back to Portugal but had to cancel after fans behaviour last year

I heard this too - am appalled and shocked in equal measures.

Can't have been that bad then

Left announcing it 'til last minute to minimise numbers of fans traveling. I blame Adkins.
