Dean Whitehead

Just been released by Stoke, always rated him and think he would be a good hard working tackling midfielder to have in our team. Very good at winning the ball and doing the simple things with it.

How about bringing in Matthew Upson too. We could do with some experience at the back. Only prob might be that he is injury prone..

Whitehead would be a big asset in the Championship - thought the same re Upson too.

Yes - and he's turned us down too many times and he's past his best. Should have taken the chance to join the mighty Royals when he had it. Soeone give him Aldershot's number.

I'd take Whitehead and Upson. Bit of experience, both free as well. Brilliant.

Whitehead is an exceptionally average footballer who plays in a position that we already have filled quite nicely.

He'd flourish in the Championship though, and you're assuming we don't lose one or two midfielders you deem better than him.

Not if we're trying to move in a completely different direction to the one Stoke were going in under Pulis.

He wasn't a longballer at Sunderland. At the end of the day you play how your manager tells you to play. Who knew Karacan could pass a ball and look so composed? Not until McDermott and his hit n rush football went did we see a different improved side of Karacan.

No point bringing in a player who has spent the last 5 years playing in a way that is completely opposite to the way we're trying to play IMO. If we do lose Karacan or Guthrie I'd rather we went with a younger, more gifted player who we'll be able to build a side around. E.G. Luke Murphy.
