Rumour - Jobi to Leeds or Wigan

by The Prisoner » 05 Aug 2013 18:02

Some chancer called Soriebah Kajue on twitter (@SoriebahKajue) reckons McAnuff has been told there won't be a new deal on the table (last year of contract apparently) and that Leeds and Wigan are after him....

According to this guy's bio he is a freeland journo for skysports, Daily Mail and Sunday Mirror, so it must be true.

However he only has only 388 followers and I reckon this is made up lazy link-a-Reading-player-with-Leeds stuff

Stay Jobi! We love you!!!

If we don't get promoted and Drenthe pisses off, we'll really really need him.

Looks like Drenthe has his place. Probably a high earner and is getting on a bit so I think seeing out his contract is sensible. But selling him this season? I'm not too convinced.

It makes sense with the number of wingers that we have.

I googled the guy and he has plenty of stories printed in the daily mail.

It all makes sense, the way Nigel has been talking about him has always been hinting. Coupled with the fact he didn't start (I know it's only one game, but they've been going on about how Drenthe isn't fully fit!) and the fact Morro is, and will remain the captain.

Agreed, and if Jobi wants first team assurances at his age then he may well opt to go elsewhere. McDermott would be keen if they could afford him, or we could try and use him in a player cash deal for McCormack? I'd have him here in a flash.

Drenthe and HRK will be playing more central roles this season so we need all the wingers we can get!!

Agreed! I think selling him now is a good idea.. Hes getting on in years and ability, only a year left in his contract and we have four better options! so this might be the only chance we get to get some moolah for him.

You'll have to explain this one to me. How is an always injured Jimmy Kebe better than a player who performed adequately at Premier League level off the back of captaining us to a league title?

No and no, Jobi has a far more complete game. With such high line wing backs we're going to need wingers who can/will defend. Kebe & McAnuff are those wingers. HRK back-up for Drenthe, and McCleary when we're chasing a game. Against a team where Jay Tabb isn't the best striker we'll need a better defense against break-outs.

Adkins repeatedly spoke very highly of Jobi at the Fans Forum - reckon this is just lazy journalism seeing him on the bench on Saturday and putting 2 and 2 together....
