2 world wars, 1 world cup But we also need an attacking midfielder........ We need some German discipline in our squad!

Were you not at the game on Saturday? Danny Williams, German born attacking midfielder, made a very impressive debut and could easily have scored.

You could be right, but he certainly spend most of the 15/20 minutes or so he was on the pitch coming forward in the Ipswich half. Maybe he's one of those players who can fill both roles. After the game, folk were comparing him to Sidwell. In any case, he looked a very exciting prospect.

The thing I keep reading on here and Twitter, is that we don't want Hitzlsperger as he is another central midfielder. Not exactly sure what that means myself. I wouldn't quantify Terry Hurlock and Danny Guthrie as the same player, even though they are both central midfielders (not even sure you could quantify Hurlock as a footballer but that's a different story), so what type of central midfielder is TH? A passer, a tackler, box to box? Don't really know so was just wondering if anyone knew enough about his game to comment.

I would have had Terry Hurlock in my team EPP, footballer or not!

Just had to look him up on Google to see if he still had the Brian May haircut (he hasn't!) but loved this on Wiki:

Tony Cascarino: "Some of us [Millwall players] were playfully goading Terry about what he was going to do to Vinnie Jones in the upcoming fixture with Wimbledon. Without saying a word, he got up from the table and walked to the entrance of the pub and ripped the door off its hinges."

I've always been a massive Hitzlsperger fan, how can you not love a German with a Brum accent? But typically the one time we get linked to him we have an abundance of midfielders. :(

I wasn't mate. Good to hear, but I always thought he was primarily defensive.

He was used as a holding midfielder at Hoffenheim, yes.

SPARTA
Cobi I doubt we're after another midfielder, but he is blonde.. I posted yesterday that a friend of mine spotted a blonde player in full training gear wearing no.27 in the hotel yesterday with Nicky Hammond. I can't see us getting a midfielder though!

We don't have room for another midfielder, and Akpan can play in the hole any way.

akpan is good, but has a lot to learn still

^ this

Williams came on for HRK and certainly looked an exciting prospect going forward! My only criticism of him was that he got into scoring positions a few times and laid the ball off rather than having a go himself!

I can't see how Hitzlsperger will link up with Gylfi, and his personality clashes with Ruel Fox are too well known, so there's no prospect of this coming off.
