Rumour - Lee Tomlin

by sandman » 30 Aug 2013 09:55

Daily Mail linking us with him this morning.

Leeds United have made a new contract offer to top scorer Ross McCormack in the face of a £2million bid from Middlesbrough.

Talks were ongoing on Thursday with Leeds willing to sell for that price although they have yet to accept the offer.

McCormack is considering his options with Middlesbrough considering a move for Peterborough's Lee Tomlin should McCormack decide to stay.

Leeds are looking to make sales to help strengthen in other areas and are willing to sacrifice McCormack if they they can find a suitable replacement.

Tomlin has also attracted enquiries from Celtic and Reading but there is no bid as yet.

Surely Nigel would never sign a player just after we've played his team in a cup competition.

Would fit into Nigel's plans as hes a decent footballer. Questions over his fitness though.

Quality player, but he's too heavy to cope at the top end champ or higher.

Going to hold my hands up and say I don't know much about him. Having said that (and I am by no means comparing him and MLT is terms of ability) but players like Micky Quinn, Jan Molby and Le Tissier come to mind as players who were, shall we say, a bit more rotund then your average footballer but managed to play at a high level (albeit a few years ago).

Seen him play, er, about 4 times now.

Back in the conference for which ever of Rusden / Dagenham it was he played for (I always get the two mixed up for some reason) against Cambridge U. He was the best player on the pitch by a mile. But was a bit of a dump truck, so I assumed he was in his thirties ending his career
Two now at London Rd I think. And another at the Mad stad, all for Posh.

Very tidy feet, decent pace for a fat lad. Good vision, good shot. But he's just not athletic enough for the top divisions given all the advances in fitness and sport science over the last 10 - 15 years, IMO obvs. Maybe he'll prove me wrong. But I'd have thought he'd have taken a step up from Posh by now if there was interest.

No chance of getting Tomlin at all. P'Boro do very well when selling their best players and almost always get top dollar.

Peterborough have apparently turned down three offers from Celtic for him.
We have no chance.

Would take him if we could get him for a small fee. Do not think he is worth the few million they would want.
