Royal Ginger Of course the club haven't confirmed it. Data protection laws prevent that without the employee's agreement. Your bOSS can't just tell everyone what you're paid.

Really? Is that covered in the DPA?
Some companies publish all employees wages - not common, but it does happen.

Yes It's personal information which is all covered. It gets complicated with various exemptions and other acts in places, but there needs to be justifiable reasons to provide personal data, and curiosity doesn't count.

That £8m Blackburn paid for him is really looking like it was a bargain isn't it. His value's just soared now he's got Championship goals and experience to his name.

We have to stop wigan from signing him, we just need to offer £10million for him. Lets face it, he's not a risk at all and we know he will score goals.

10 million not a risk???? Half the clubs in the premier league would not spend £10 million on a player... Let alone a championship club!! Get real sports fans!

We could spend ten, he score twenty and still not go up, so it would be a risk. He could break a leg and never play again, so its a risk. He may just not fit in here, or lose form for some personal reason, so...

Paying what would be 4 times out record fee would constitute a risk!! He is not GUARENTEED To score you goals!! No one is!!

I wouldn't want the club throwing all their eggs into one basket when we need to spread quality in at least three positions (creative midfielder, centre half and forward)

So you are looking at a player, bought last season for 8 million, who is rumoured to be sold to a club in the same division for less than 8 million and you do not see the risk involved in buying him for 10 million.
Will I break it down for you?

- 8 million was spent on him last season.
- He scored 20+ goals.
- These goals did not get his team promoted.
- He could be be sold to a club (in the same division) for less than 8 million.

If the fourth thing happens Blackburn will have lost a significant amount of money with his goals doing very little in earning them back that money (you could argue more tickets were sold as fans wanted to see him in action)

Now imagine we bought him for 10 million and we did not get promoted. The above could happen to us and we would be all the worse for it.

Please see 1996/97(?) 1999/00 & 2000/01 as examples.

And how could I forget 2009/10 & 2010/11.

Fuuuuuuuuuuck it. Based on that we actively want to avoid having a 20 a season man playing for us! In the last 20 years, we've got 5 examples of not getting promoted with a 20 a season player and 2 examples of successfully getting promoted with one! Only 50% of the time do we need to have someone score 20 goals to get promoted.

Wigan have set a deadline which means there is more than one suitor. I wouldn't be surprised if that was us

I'd be very surprised .,,Squeaky only goes up to 3...or is it 2???...which is a long way short of the 8,9 or 10 that would be needed...
