Ian Royal Libertine - you seriously are a chump.

The club has told us what it wants to do and is trying to do. Anyone who's taken at face value as a guarantee of success what Anton, Adkins or anyone else has said we are looking to do, or even will do, is a totally gullible and self-deluding chump.

The things the club wants to do simply isn't within its power to achieve, short of going out and offering over the odds on three conference players just to satisfy chumps like you who hear we're trying to sign players and expect to do so with having made the requisite number of signings.

Take everything with a pinch of salt, and know its aspirational, not actually a guaranteed commitment. You'll find yourself having less disappointment.

You're right IR...I am a chump for believing to be true anything the club says. And you're a preening pretentious pcunt...

Maybe, but I'm not the chump who's moaning. I'm enjoying supporting the club and looking forward to another good season.

6 goals in 5 games is leakier than your mum without her tenna lady in?

I disagree.

LUX plus the past seven years have been the most successful in the club's history.

Exactly. Spoilt little children.

floyd__streete The only thing this club rerally excels in is getting a good price for its saleable assets

Agree with that. In other words, we are good at ripping off other clubs for our average players.

I cannot see how Hammond is in any way to blame. If he managed to get 5M for the two players sold he did his job. It just looks like the budget to bring players in was far too pesky to get any deals over the line. He can only work with what he has got to spend.

I like the way when we sell players, it's take the largest fee rumoured and as if it all comes in at once. And when we buy players, it's take the lowest fee rumoured and point out ad nauseum that its paid in installments.

I can't get worked up about the lack of signings yesterday. Good on Hammond if he won't pay through the nose. He was slagged off for not coughing up when we got gazumped over Tommy Smith, but he had the price right, and Portsmouth, those masters of financial wisdom, had it wrong.

In theory we have the squad to do well. After all, it is still largely that which got promoted before. But I am nervous about the erosion of the phenomenal team spirit and ethic that we had then. Then we did not have an unsettled highly paid striker, as we do now. We had a trio of defensive midfielders who performed astonishing feats of "thou shalt not pass", in Karacan, Leigertwood, and Tabb. We had constant battlers in Hunt and McAnuff (hopefully, the latter will be back soon to provide leadership, a quality he is underrated for). And we had the peculiar tenacity and pugnacity of Harte, which stirred the team on. None of the above were individually gifted, but they contributed to a fine team unit. Not sure if that can be reforged with the present personnel, even if it will include Sissoko.

Interviewer: Why didn't you sign a striker yesterday?
Hammond: I didn't sign a striker on Transfer Deadline Day because I will not be held to ransom by clubs for transfer fees. 8)
Interviewer: Why didn't you sign a striker in the preceding 2 months instead then?
Hammond:

Ian I always, and only, look forward to supporting the team and hopefully another good season. If you hadn't noticed I often praise the team when they make moves, or do things, I agree with. I will also knock them if I think they are getting something wrong. Why? Because I want to see them do the best they can. I think we can all agree that we have looked very light upfront. We really should upgrade the players we have to choose from to fill those positions to increase the odds we do have another good season. Those needs haven't been/weren't as of yet addressed...hence my criticism. If that makes me a chump...sobeit.
