Chalobah or McEacran would've been more interesting moves but Baird is experienced and can play a number of positions so makes perfect sense from that point of view.

If the Leeds game proved one thing it's that we need a bit more muscle and determination in the middle of the park and reading Adkins comments I'd expect to see Baird play more in midfield than at the back.

He can yes, but his lack of experience means he'd have been a much bigger gamble throwing in at full back or centre half in emergencies than Baird.

Might've been a bad message to send, but as good as Tishbola etc can look, they're not in Chalobah's class.
