Barry the bird boggler Having the best strikers in the division may help a team but without any creativity going on behind them you may as well play a couple of dustbins up front....

Ah yes - except that by having the best strikers up front, the opposition will naturally close up the gap between defence and midfield, leaving more space in midfield for our creative types to provide the ammunition. And the creative types don't need to be so good in tight spaces, just able to deliver the ball into the right ............ oh

In the space of just a couple of weeks we have gone from the worst in the division to the best! Good times.

We now have a highly desirable premiership striker, a Russian international goal-machine, a supersub, and Blackman.

Forest - Blackstock, Cox, Paterson, Henderson, Mackie, Miller, Tudgay, Derbyshire. Not too shabby for this level.

We must be up there, until Di Canio gets a job in the Champ and assembles the Aryan Strike Force

Two or three weeks ago people were going batshit on here because we didn't sign a striker. Now Pogrebnyak scores a massive two goals, and we sign someone on loan, now we have the best strike force in the league.

I love Reading fans, I really do.

This might be news to you, but there are lots of people who weren't going batshit two or three weeks ago because we didn't sign a striker. It's not fickle if one set of people say one thing one week and another set of people say something else another week.

Pog has one good game and we sign an out of favour striker for a couple of months on loan, and it all changes.

Weird.

It's funny how we say Pog is rubbish but then he scores and we all think differently.

That's because people are incapable of forming coherent opinions based on long term performances and so either base them on the most recent matches or make their mind up based on very little and then ignore performance.

Alfie is a great little finisher, but when he starts it seems like we are playing a man short, he just brings nothing to the table, he won`t like it but he needs to be used exclusively as an impact sub

TBH our frontline isn't that fantastic.
Le Fondre- Probably one of the most over-rated players for Reading FC, dreadful player when he starts although you'd have to say he has won us some vital points.
Pog-If he can keep his form up then yes he will be a quality striker in this division
Sharp-Good addition to the SQUAD, although only 11 goals for forest last season and he has only 3 months here, initially. Time will tell
Blackman- Obviously not good enough yet, time to improve but not a first team striker
Roberts- I Doubt he will play again

So, looking at the strikers, I wouldn't overate them too much, an injury to Pog and then we are down to minimum.
