Will it be a March international retirement with 45 minutes at Wembley to say goodbye?

Hodgson was quite clear that it wasn't worth taking a player like Ferdinand to the Euros to sit on the bench, so presumably the same would be true for Lampard.

Sorry, wrong thread.

Still has a worse goals to game ratio for England than Lampard though.

Nice of you to continue to fluff Kes in his time of need.

Rightly taken off early on Friday and dropped for the crunch game. A more cohesive performance from his replacement Carrick who kept the ball moving and allowed Frank's superior Steven Gerrard steal the show.

A good contribution to the campaign, but surely even you can see he has been off for these last two games.

Can't really count last night tbf. I didn't see Friday's game as I was out in London. However, Gerrard was pretty poor last night albeit he scored right near the end. He gives the ball away far too much, once was nearly costly as Poland nearly scored on the counter from his bad pass. It's not the first time he's done that either. Carrick was decent however.

Why can't you count last night? He came on, his passing was poor, his touch was poor, he looked lost to me.

It was good to have him about during the start of the campaign in less pressured games, though it was a shame we didn't haul more points during that time. When it came to the crunch games though, selection had to get tougher and I guess Frank didn't cut the mustard.

EDIT: Always interesting that, when Frank is taking some criticism, Chelsea fans bring up Gerrard for some reason. P.s. good all-round game last night, high passing stats for such an elaborate passer, and what a goal. Nice work Gerrard.

Joint second highest. With Danny Welbeck. Not exactly a huge acolade.

Way to avoid the point there.

Not really. The point is - Qualification started a long time ago yet simple folk (majority of football fans) only remember the last two games.

Townsend - whilst he's been good the last couple of games, is suddenly the Worlds best player.
England - Now have a bright future. After the Ukraine game, the press, the majority of the English public were saying we were years behind the best teams.

I think you get my drift now. 8)

No. That wasnt the point at all. Or certainly not the one I was making.

I happen to agree with you for most of that. Personally I think Lampard is still a decent player and was in the squad on form, not just on name. I hope that the poor performances were a blip and that he continues his good form through to next summer, where he will still do a job and then can bow out gracefully.

Townsend - is a player in form and happened to benefit from the new formation and the manager's confidence in him. However, I am under no illusions and would not be upset if he doesnt make it next summer, if his club form drops off. I hope it doesnt and he proves to be a good player, but time will tell.
