Tried to look down the divisions to see who could be one of the better appointments and wondered about Keith Hill.

first season at Rochdale he got them to the play off final, 2nd season he got them automatically promoted from league 2 (first promotion in over 30 years), 3rd season they finished 9th in League 1. Opted to leave for Barnsley

First season at Barnsley he avoided relegation with probably the lowest budget in the division, which is basically what Barnsley try to do every season. next season they sacked him (according to wiki he had bad injuries and players were sold off).

back to Rochdale last year and he has them sitting top of League 2, 9 points clear of a play off place and certainties to go up.

Adkins is a physio, as proven last night with another shocking home performance

What an O*fording sh*t thread! You could see from Adkins body language he was as pissed off as the fans. He usually prowls his technical area all game. Last night, second half, he just sat there looking thoroughly brassed off.

The players need to take more responsibility for the shockingly inconsistent performances. Just turning up doesn't win matches. There was no fight in that team at all last night.

He's done that for most of the season. It's his job to stop performances like this happening over and over again.

Doesn't change the fact that once the players cross the white line, it's there job to win the game. They're either: A) not good enough or B) don't want to play for the Bronzed one anymore.

Either way, we're not going to fire him, we can't afford to. More likely he'll walk.

Do we actually have anyone at the club with the authority to fire Adkins? I thought that big john handed over that power to the absent Russian . . .

ZacNaloen Clubs with no money can't afford to pay off contracts and sack managers.
or hire managers who will want to sign players and bring in their own backroom staff.

The money will be better spend on giving Adkins funds to buy a central defender and a striker.

Other way around...

...but I suspect SJM isn't keen on doing anything other than keeping the wheels turning right now.

The problem is that Adkins was brought in with promises of funds being available but the clubs owners ( whoever they are at the moment ) have gone back on those promises.
You need good footballers to play good football and we do not have enough of these.
We needed to strengthen more in the last three window but have failed to do so.
This is particularly evident when you compare what most of the other teams around us did in January.
I think it is totally ridiculous for a club that pretends to have ambitions of promotion not to have enough central midfield players available at a time when points are crucial.
The main thing I am disappointed about with Adkins is that he has fallen into the same trap as previous managers of accepting that what he has is good enough; it is not .
If we are lucky enough to reach the play-off I don't expect much more beyond that.
I expect RFC will fire the manager before the end of the season so that the blame can be deflected from a club management which is quite simply a total joke at the moment.
Only the shambles at Leeds and the bizarre over-reaction at Forest prevents the situation at Reading from being highlighted.
As for the alternative I expect a route 1 type of manager to fit the standard of player that we are likely to be left with after the summer. If we can afford them it could be Aldo or Tony Pullis on that basis. Not saying that I want this type but I think this is what will happen.

You can't make lemonade without lemons.

Adkins is doing a fine job with so many injuries an an inherited team.

We're in the playoffs, "in the hunt" as he promised at the start of the season.

Genuinely believe with Karacan and Bridge fit and had Alfie not continually fluffed his lines we would be top two.

Boo hoo - poor Adkins wasn't allowed the several million pounds he spent before getting sacked at Southampton. Seemingly his due dilligence wasn't any better than Madejski's. I have no sympathy for the man at all, he insists on the likes of McCarthy, Gorkss, Pearce playing little triangles on the edge of the 18 yard box and we're supposed to feel sorry for him when this leads to catastrophe :?:

If he hasn't got what he was promised when he took the job then he should do the decent thing and resign. At the moment he is stealing a living at Reading.

Then he should do what he is paid to do and change it around. Too many times it's been drifting this season desperately in need of change and yet we get no subs. I'd rather see him try to change it and be positive than stick with something that isn't working at the time.

Who the oxf*rd will want to come here? The only applicants for this job will be Iain Dowie and Paul Jewell.

Adkins >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> to what's realistically available.
