Pretty much 'greed with all of what Mags said. Mourinho is the biggest pcunt in football but as a tactician he's the first coach to manage to stop his team being rolled over by Liverpool in the first 20 minutes for ages. Down to City to win 4 in a row now as I reckon Liverpool win their last two

Maguire How many times does Mourinho have to get these kind of results before people give him a bit of credit?

Textbook performance, excellent defending, totally nullified Liverpool. Still think Liverpool will win the league but let's hope City take it to wire with a win now.

Always delivers the goods even though he is very unlikeable most of the time.

Jose is the ultimate small club manager. Only difference being when he does it, its genius (it is), yet when a small club does it against a bigger one apparently its boring, bus parking anti-football (usually in Jose's opinion). He's an excellent manager and a shocking excuse for an egocentric dullard.

I have such a love-hate relationship with him

winchester_royal Not sure I'd call pouncing on a Gerrard slip and then putting 7 defenders on the pitch as a tactical masterclass tbh

what would you call 2-0 against the 'team of the season' not lost this year and at their home ground with the whole media fate thing behind them... You need to take a good look at yourself

Which is why he failed in his job at a truly big club.

i just strait up hate him. my chelsea supporting mate just sent me a text immediately after full time. i then immediately pointed out how boring it is to watch chelsea play and they literally just parked the bus for 45 minutes after a very very lucky break.

Boring or not Mourinho knows how to get a result. And at the end of the day results are all that matter

I think his approach to media is a facet of him trying to set his team up as underdogs wherever possible. I think its also why it didn't translate so well to Real Madrid (Inter? sure, big club, but it's easier selling cynical football to Italians, no?).

I like him, I don't particularly like the football (except his first season at Chelsea, that was pretty good), I respect the results he gets.

MmmMonsterMunch They have been solid as fcuk though. Really professional performance I think.

Very much so, but 9 times out of 10 Liverpool win that game,

They only chose to lose it when it was important?

In any event:

OptaJoe ‏@OptaJoe 36m
7 - Jose Mourinho's Premier League record against Liverpool is P9 W7 D1 L1. Mastery.

TBM Inter?

Would you say they are a bigger job than Real Madrid?

Inter are a big club but the second biggest club in their City and third biggest in their country so they view themselves as the underdog, which Mourinho thrives on.

Explained, in a better way, by Gab Marcotti:

'The siege mentality works when you can think of yourself as a victim or an underdog. It's a staple for coaches everywhere, right down to Little League. “Gentlemen, it's us against the world ... how bad do you want it?” That approach may have worked at Inter, where the club saw themselves as outsiders to the Milan-Juventus hegemony, and at Chelsea, where they were the nouveau riche upstarts upsetting the social order. But this was Spain, and Real Madrid -- more than any other club -- represent the Establishment. Trying to recast Real as some kind of persecuted underdog simply didn't play. Many Real fans saw it as humiliating. Supporters of other clubs, particularly those that did have legitimate gripes, saw it as a joke.

(It's not a coincidence that Mourinho enjoys his strongest support among Real's “Ultras Sur.” They're a subset of the fan base who legitimately do consider themselves outsiders battling “the system.” Mourinho naturally resonates with them.)'

Not sure I implied there was any element of choice involved....

Liverpool had 73% possession, 26 shots, and conceded thanks to a Gerrard slip and when they had all 11 players in the opposition's third in a gung ho attempt to equalise.

On another day Gerrard doesn't lose his footing and one of Liverpool's shots takes a deflection or flies into the top corner and we're all sat here smugly bemoaning Mourinho's lack of adventure.

Fair play to Mourinho, he came with a plan and it worked for him, but if all teams played the way Chelsea did then nobody would bother watching football. I respect his record, but not the way he goes about it.

By all accounts Brendan has given a very sour post match interview. Looking forward to hearing it now. And Jose's of course..
