Not many. Other than the "class of 92" its not like even Man United's famed youth setup regularly brings through home grown players.

Whatevs How many players actually make it through Prem academies in general btw?

Southampton, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton, Man Utd....all have produced decent Premier League players via their academy

But the likes of Man City and Chelsea don't seem to - maybe its cos they have the luxury of being able to buy talent in, rather than promote it

wtf you on about John O'Shea, Kieran Richardson, Wes Brown, Bardesley, Paul McShane* etc....now they're out of Europe they'll never be able to attract that sort of young world class talent again

Arsenal also have Jack Wilshere

Then Liverpool have Gerrard, Sterling and Flanagan

So not sure how you can't agree with the others

Can you count Sterling? He was signed from QPR.

Would you count Szczesney for Arsenal either?

By that token, surely you can't look further than Wet Sham?

Villa tend to have a good number of half-decent home grown players.

If you're talking recent youth cup teams, then

Who have Arsenal got who came through their academy currently?? Gibbs?

this is their 2009 side, so the players would be expected to be coming through now

1 England James Shea
2 England Craig Eastmond
3 England Thomas Cruise
4 England Kyle Bartley
5 France Francis Coquelin
6 England Luke Ayling
7 England Henri Lansbury
8 England Jack Wilshere
9 France Gilles Sunu
10 England Sanchez Watt
11 England Jay Emmanuel-Thomas (c)
Substitutes:
12 England Rhys Murphy
13 England Charlie Mann
14 Republic of Ireland Conor Henderson
15 Netherlands Oğuzhan Özyakup
16 Cameroon Cedric Evina

Nah, as ever its only one or two players that really make it. Bold are the ones still at the club, italics for ones I heard of and played a bit for Arsenal.

The Liverpool side

LIVERPOOL:
1 Australia Dean Bouzanis
2 England Steven Irwin
3 England Jack Robinson
4 Spain Daniel Ayala
5 England Joe Kennedy (c)
6 England Andre Wisdom
7 England David Amoo
8 Germany Christopher Buchtmann
9 Finland Lauri Dalla Valle
10 England Thomas Ince
11 Sweden Alexander Kačaniklić
Substitutes:
12 England Nathan Eccleston
13 England Deale Chamberlain
14 Scotland Alex Cooper
15 England Michael Roberts
16 England Karl Clair

similarly slim pickings.

Gibbs and Sterling both moved to Arsenal and Liverpool, respectively, at a very similar age (close to 15th birthday).
Gibbs moving from the disbanded Wimbledon.
So either both count as produced, or neither really.

In fairness Chelsea did 'produce' Jack Cork for Saints.

Extended-Phenotype I probably wouldn’t have noticed it myself but the analysis on MOTD highlighted the perfect rigidity of Chelsea’s back 9 – they were so well drilled they couldn’t have played more as a unit if the imaginary lines connecting them on the screen were real ropes tying them together. The thought going into the strategy, the coaching that must have been required and the discipline of the players to execute it so perfectly has to be hailed even if it was the definition of ‘anti-football’.

Agreed though, Chelsea scoring was down to little more than luck.

Two games against Liverpool this season, we've scored 4 goals to their 1. Luck.

Just talking about Sunday's game. While Liverpool looked unlikely to score, couldn't see Chelsea doing it either without a nice slice of fortune which they got. Not knocking 'em, just saying. They outplayed Liverpool in both games. Just think they were lucky to win on Sunday when the strategy was little more than "don't lose".

Executed perfectly and with a lucky break, they turned the game into a win. Something Reading have done plenty of times before and I applauded them for it. Not every team can play attacking football, certainly not every game.

Depends what age you start/stop at....if the player has spent time in the academy and are now first team regulars then i'd say they were a produce of the academy as those final years are probably what shaped them in to the player they are now.

(also i was really only looking at UK based players)

I wonder whether Mourinho will get the sack this season if they don't win the Champs League.
Coming only 3rd in the Premier League would represent regression despite bringing in Schwarzer and Eto'o (wages) and spending a further £80 million or more on Schurrle, Willian,Matic and Salah.
All of that and still not the entertaining football that Abramovich yearns for.

Incidentally people would not be criticising Mourinho so much if he hadn't previously criticised Spurs for parking the bus and West Ham for playing the same mediaeval football that we saw from his side yesterday-pot, kettle, black.

As for being the master tactician where was that mastery against Palace and Sunderland (games that they lost recently and put them out of serious contention)?
It's not that difficult a tactic to tell all the players to waste time and get behind the ball in numbers.
Chelsea of yesterday = Wimbledon of yesteryear .

You lost yesterday but you still have a strong chance of the title despite losing yesterday. Basically, get over it.

Absolutely but here we are on about Chelsea and the so-called master tactician-a myth.

Just saw the goals again. The 2nd goal Looked like Torres didn't want to score against Liverpool and passed it so someone else did

Chelsea can still win the league m8 (unlikely but still possible). It may be Liverpool that finish third (fingers crossed)

'What were your tactics Jose?'
'Ask Jamie Redknapp, he is your big football brain'

Vintage Mourinho, loved that interview

Knew that Chelsea would win yesterday. Suarez was never gonna score - Chelsea are amazing at defending racists.
