Scholes and Lampard, absolutely chalk and cheese in that respect.

Well, Scholes and just about every other high profile player, TBF.

But now he's out of the limelight of playing for a huge club, he's been getting busier and busier. First he calls out Wilshere, now Gerrard - seems like cowards behaviour...?

Yeah, does seem odd for someone who made a point of keeping himself to himself during his playing career.

Didn't Wilshere say that he and Scholes spoke at length to each other about those comments? Surely a "coward" wouldn't have spoken to the person they criticised and would have just ignored the guy.

Lampard has had successes but one of the truly top tier great midfield players? Nah.

YateleyRoyal Yes...posting about Lampard in a thread about Lampard shows obsession m8. Good one.

You miss the point

Of course this thread is to discuss the greatest English midfielder of our generation, but to use it to make a lie out of what he's said - that's obsession I'm afraid.

Maybe you should call Samaritans - 0845 790 9090

A damning indictment of the performance of your national team over the last decade and a half.

Big Foot Which bitter colony is it you belong to?

Well who wouldn't be bitter given the stunning success the national team have had over the years?

Didn't know you had to belong to a "colony" to dislike the nations arrogant footballers and their fans who bellow Ingerland at the top of their voices and still refer to the colonies.

Let's put it in a way you may understand BF. you don't like Nigel Adkins and don't feel a connection with the club, so you gave up your season ticket and you don't support them the same way you used to.

Well it's sort of the same with me and the England team. I support England in all sports except football.

I don't feel anything positive towards the England football team, they have no redeeming features, no really exciting players, no likability whatsoever so I don't support them. If you don't like that, it's your prerogative.

Woefully unfair. In the 05 season he was probably the best in the world. He has consistently been a top player since joining Chelsea. His goal scoring record is quite incredible. Sadly the anti Chelsea lobby fall for the 'fat frank' and 'deflected' nonsense and he was always underrated.

Same as Ashley Cole who has been Englands most consistent player for 10 years and gave his all yet the simple minds boo'ed him each and every time he ran out..John Terry was lamblasted for years yet the cries went out for him to to to Brazil because of the fragile defence lacked leadership. Which proved correct with our 3 games and out.

Fans don't like Chelsea so their players must be shit. Fans 'love' Liverpool so their players must be great.. Football fans are so simplistic

However Lampard is well past his best and the last 3 seasons he has been overall poor. Going to ManC will not help him in any way shape or form.IMHO

Agreed with all bar the last line

The past 3 seasons haven't been as good as his exceptionally high standards before, but poor? No

....After Scholes had gobbed off in the media, yes

Fair play to Wilshere having the bollocks to stand up to him - probably the highlight of his career to date.

At his peak, 2nd in World Footballer of the year. Scholes or Gerrard have never finished as high.

Fair play to him, very admirable to put his family first after 15 years of service to the national side

I realise that the main reason for joining City was to keep himself fit (and possibly be near Manchester for Christine's BBC work?) ahead of his move to the St8s, but how much playing time is he likely to get in the few months he'll be there? Surely if Pellegrini saw him as going to be an impact player for them Frank would have featured (at least as a sub) by now?

Or is he injured and I missed that?
