Opinion: Chung-Yong Lee

by JamesWN » 08 Jan 2015 14:24

Bolton manager Neil Lennon has admitted it's becoming increasingly unlikely Lee Chung-yong will be staying with the club.

Lee's deal at the Macron Stadium runs out in the summer, and the Trotters boss told reporters the South Korea international could walk away for free in the summer if they don't sell him in this transfer window.

"We're still hoping we can convince him to stay (but) that's looking less and less likely. He's 26 and I think he wants to play at a higher level - I understand that. From a club point of view, if he is going to go, then it's important we get the right price for him."

I know this probably isn't worth a thread, but quotes have come from Neil Lennon saying they may have to offload him or they could lose him for free in the summer. The chances are exteremly unlikely but personally, If Reading could sign one player, it would be him. What are all your thoughs?

I could see him going to Palace. How much do think they'd let him go for?

I think he wants to play at a higher level.

Regardless, if we were to spend this sort of money then it should be on a forward and a central defender. We've got plenty of wingers.

Very good player, he'd have much better offers than us if we were to make an attempt at signing him.

I could realistically see him going to a lower lever Premier League club like Crystal Palace or Hull.

Neil Lennon is a bit smarter than that I reckon  luckily for us, it seems some Chinese club is not.

Agreed, either that or a top 6 Champs club will snap him up without a second thought.

PALACE TARGET LEE

Crystal Palace have reportedly made an approach to sign Bolton midfielder Chung-Yong Lee.

The Sun report that the Eagles hope to agree a fee of around £1.5m for the South Korean international. Bolton manager Neil Lennon told the Bolton News that contract talks have stalled with Lee, who is currently at the Asia Cup and whose deal expires next summer.

I called it.

I copied and pasted it and then suggested we should look at him even though he's well outside our resources and despite him being reportedly Palace bound.
