It's the Reading way, the club'll spend tomorrow hoping that Palace get Gestade in or something so we can move for Murray again. Then, when that fails, SC will say how we're actually fine for strikers for the rest of the season and he wasn't that worried anyway.

Not sure why everyone seems so keen to sign this guy, it's a punt at best and I wouldn't pay more than a million personally.

We're not in any real danger of relegation this season really and i would give Pog a run as he seems to be finding his feet a bit better now, then look at the end of the season to strengthen when the market is not as inflated as it is now.

Let Charlton have him for £2-million if they want to chuck their money around on a gamble signing.

Yeh, but wouldn't it be nice if we actually took a punt once in a while?

Well yes, if we had loads of money to take punts, but we don't. If we were in the relegation mix it might be worth it as a last throw of the dice sort of thing, but to be held to ransom now in the inflated January window seems a bit pointless really.

There is a rider to that of course. For all we know Clarke has been monitoring this player for some time and is utterly convinced that he is what we need. If that's the case you'd probably have to trust his judgement but it seems to have come out of the blue a bit.

If he was two or three years younger or had done the biz in a better league we might be better swallowing ournpride and coughing up. But he isn't and hasn't and we have a budget to stick to. As Norrers says, He's a punt.

Anyone surprised we won't pay a couple hundred grand more to land him knows nothing about us.

At the the end of the day we have an amount that we think he is worth and they have an amount that they think he is worth. We should not be held to ransom and I agree with the club not just throwing money at it. In our position we need to get value from our transfer dealings.

Swedish journos saying that we have given up. However CW claims that Vibes agent is in Reading-only issue is the fee.

Sounds like he really wants the move. We haven't given up either. But knowing us we don't finish the deal, even if we aren't far. Transfer fees shouldn't be a huge hindrance with ffp, Wages more that, and he'll be on less than Murray. The Swedish reporter thinks we are 400k away. Under ftp that would be 100k p/y on a 4 year deal, 130k on 3 etc.. Surely workable. 10 weeks wages.

Anyone who really wants a move to Reading at the moment probably isn't worth £2M

This still would have happened if we had had a bid accepted a couple of days ago. As soon as it got into the press it would have alerted others plus his agent would have been touting him around. Can't blame the club for this one.

We really do a great job at marketing players for other clubs to snatch up. I hope we get good commission from the selling clubs and the players' agents!

You can if once again the club pitched in with a ridiculously low bid which once again reflected their unique view of market values.

Part of negotiation, you go in with a low bid to start off the discussions. Like I said it would make no difference with regards to bigger clubs entering the race to sign him.

But then I don't have an agenda to criticise the club for nearly everything they do. I save it for when there is something to criticise them for.
