I hope Bradford fans are as complimentary about Reading as Reading fans were about Bradford. "What a shithole"

Not at all. I didn't call Bradford a shithole, some of your fans did. I actually want Bradford to win the FA Cup as it's the 30th anniversary of the Bradford City fire. Would be rather nice.

T'evening all, hope thas all fair to middling,

Reet then, t'here's a question for thee all, what are the pubs near't ground that are friendly for t'away fans and preferably serve beer with decent a Yorkshire head?

(Also, will the pub have a water bowl for mi whippet).

In all seriousness, I so hope that I manage to a golden ticket for the replay.

Sithee later

The nearest is probably Callaghans which is a rip off bar attached to the Holiday Inn, you can tether your whippet outside but will baulk at the prices and slow service.

A further walk is World Turned upside down Basingstoke road. There are no "home" only pubs.

You're better off drinking in the centre and getting the F1 shuttle bus to the ground.

PieEater
John Madejski's Wallet
PieEater As Bradford fans appear to be some of the nicest supporters around I thought we should have a thread for them about their imminent visit to the Mad Stad where we can answer their questions and make them feel welcome.

So fire away with questions about parking, pubs, officious stewards, pies etc

Parking chaos, no pubs, sh*t stewards, ok pies

Don't spoil the occasion - before you know they'll be singing Reading's a shithole and they want to go home.

We want you to stay, we want you to stay!
Readings a nice place,
We want you to stay!

That really is a good retort and one which we should adopt the next time away supporters strike up with the shithole song!

Maybe for our poor Northern friends we will have to add a second verse.

We want you to stay, we want you to stay!
But Reading's too pricey
You'll have to go home!

LWJ So nice they had a welcome party for us at the crossroads after the game  Did no one else notice their mob of 50 odd in stone island?

TBF we did have at least one minibus full of our own Stone Island boys turn up at The Bradford Arms. Every club attracts some of that type to their big occasions.

Correct Royal Blue! Every club seems to have a small band of Knob heads who want to cause trouble with every team's fans. I didn't get chance to talk to any of your fans before the game as I had to drive after so wasn't out for a drink. I was for the Sunderland game though and, although their trouble makers and ours were chasing each other around the city centre, we got sat in a pub with a group of them and enjoyed a good hour or so discussing the rights and wrongs of our respective clubs. As for next Monday, unfortunately I can't make it but I'm sure the majority of fans who travel will be there for a good time and not causing bother.

I've been to numorous away games over the years, and mostly enjoy a few pre-match pints with the opposition locals in a good atmosphere much in the way that you have just described, but the trouble is that you never really know when a nutter may appear. It's very rare but not unknown. It's a shame really.

The beer prices aren't too bad. Cider prices are outrageous. Food is only for those with an expense account (although the chippy over the road is good).

It can be incredibly slow in there though.

The word we've had is GET THERE EARLY - treat it as if it were a 7.15pm KO (the real KO is 7.45pm).

There won't be any non-permit parking available at the stadium.

The game is a sell-out or near as dammit with 4,000 away fans and TV trucks everywhere so there's going to be every bit as much pressure on time and space as there used to be for midweek Prem matches.

This message applies to Reading and Bradford City fans.

If everyone else gets there early it's probably best to go late really.

In fact treat it as a standard Tuesday midweek game and you'll have a choice of parking spots, no one in front of you at the turnstiles and no queues at the kiosks....

So the message is that an FA Cup quarter final is going to be a bit busy?

Thanks.

Maybe that's the plan, Starliason trying to make sure the roads are clear for his/her last minute arrival at the ground.

I'm getting a football bus - I hope the driver doesn't treat it as a 7.15 KO and leave us all waiting at the bus stop.

I thought Starliaison was referring to the slow bar service at the Holiday Inn, that's certainly a tip worth considering if you're determined to get a Spacey like beer quotient.
