Also, no-one knows whether it was a question of his own beliefs or whether he thought wearing the poppy may have negative repercussions for his family back in Londonderry. He's never specifically said other than to make references to Bloody Sunday and it's impact on his community.

We were linked with him when he was still at Londonderry . I personally think he would be a very good signing and improve our squad. Agree, his politics shouldn't be an issue unless it causes problems within the squad.

No such football team exists. Londonderry, as a city, does exist though. Derry City is a nationalist club so wouldn't use the correct geographical term for location as they refuse to recognise it's legitimacy.

Londonderry is also home to a football club called the Oxford United Stars.

I know all that, I wasn't trying to make a political point. I called it Derry as it's the name of the club he played for and it's quicker to type. I also think Derry is a nicer name. Londonderry just sounds a bit shit,
