Ascotexgunner
AthleticoSpizz Did he bumrape you Ascot?

With all their scousy lovee dovee lovins and victim cries, and how Stevie G (who internationally was shite) is world class and was magnificent in Istanbul (even though they drew and were completely outplayed for all but 10 minutes). I HATE THEM AND THEIR OVERRATED PLAYERS. So yes it often feels like he and that club have A.

I think you miss the point about Istanbul-it was the stuff of dreams when you are 3-0 down against probably the best side in Europe at the time and yet somehow manage to claw it back and win the trophy.
Also I love your scouser stereotyping (you forgot the thieving and benefit scrounging) which is so prevalent on here with people who quite frankly are a bit thick and ill-informed and have no idea about life north of Watford.
With your Ascot and Arsenal links I guess you are just one of those thickos-the sort I JUST F*****NG HATE (especially when they angrily type in capitals) with their narrow-minded Southerness and envy towards the most successful English team in European football history.
Is it because neither Ascot nor Arsenal have ever won anything of note beyond these shores?.
Envy is a terrible thing.

Fair play to Liverpool for winning 5 European Cups. Great achievement but somewhat overshadowed by fans mugging each other for tickets in Istanbul and Athens, not to mention the Heysel disaster.

When Bill Shankly said 'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.' That was obviously complete bollocks.

I think it was NFA who made an interesting point earlier (If you post a thousand or so times on a topic even an idiot will come up with something relevant once in a while) about the impact that one star player (in this case Sanchez) has on the success of a team.
Historically people in this country have always made a thing about the team ethic and that successful sides wouldn't have prima donnas-I think that has now changed but the prima donnas in successful sides do also have a team ethic.

Bale and Sanchez did their bit for Spurs and the Super Reds and Ronaldo and Messi do their stuff for Barcelona and this year Hazard ,Sanchis and Aguero have starred for their respective clubs finishing 1st 2nd and 3rd.
Bayern Munich,Athletico Madrid and Juventus have succeeded recently without that one star player but the view in this office is that to be successful it is now imperative to have one stand-out player and because Man Utd., Spurs and Liverpool no longer have that one star performer (Kane has only done it over half a season) that is one of the reasons why thses clubs have only finished 4th, 5th and 6th.

There are obviously other factors but to succeed I think that Spurs and Liverpool will have to stop shopping in the £10-20 million bracket and plunge on one player that might cost £40 million or more. That big money player can provide a major lift to a club and help bring the best out of other players.
Man Utd tried it with Di Maria and it hasn't worked and there are other examples for and against, e.g. Coutinho at £10 million was a bargain but generally I do feel that each team needs at least that one star player to have a chance of winning a title or at least challenging for it.

It will be interesting to see if Spurs and Liverpool adopt a different policy especially with Lamela being an expensive flop and likewise Lovren at Liverpool when the bigger money has been spent but I feel sure that City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd will splash big cash again and buy players bordering on world class and to some extent already proven rather than buy potential which is a bigger gamble.

Coming back to Liverpool the likes of Markovic, Can and Moreno are still very young and may yet come good as Coutinho (also still younger than any player in City ,or Chelsea's side?) has done this season but I fear that without big spending on one star player plus a couple of others in the proven and bigger money categories (across keeper, central defender and striker) it will be yet another season of hovering around the 4th, 5th and 6th spots rather than challenging for the top.

Let's not also forget, Rodgers didn't actually purchase Suarez. That was Kenny.

It's good to see the care in the community programme being extended to football.

Who also bought Andy Carroll a couple of hours afterwards. This was posted for balance.

Frankly (Mr Shankly) your opinion is an embarrassment.

I know that this maybe a shock Victor BUT I F*CKING HATE ARSENAL. I know my handle name suggests it but can't stick em. Presumption is a terrible thing. I have no second team either because I don't get just don't get how you can support 2 teams. Especially when their not even within 100 miles.

Carry on wondering_ I have explained it in the past on here and choose not to retell the whole story all over again-suffice to say that I have followed both clubs for 60 years and Reading is just ahead in my support because it is needed more.
That doesn't stop me having an ongoing concern about what happens at Liverpool.
BTW I would suggest you seek some medical treatment for all that F*****G H8 that you bear.
