No, somebody made the decision that HRK was a better option

Or even Jobi McAnuff...

Or probably just as likely the newly signed Garath McCleary and a resurgent Jimmy Kebe.

To be fair, Antonio has come along a lot over the last couple seasons, HRK meanwhile has just stalled.

Look at the 2012-13 season they had similar records but HRK was doing it in the Premier League, no one would have suggested Antonio was the better player then and if you had been told that we sold Antonio to focus more on HRK you would have definitely seen it as justified. Moving on 2 years and that all has changed.

Royal Rother
SCIAG McCarthy, Federici, Hamer would all go into the first team if we signed them tomorrow.

Ok

In which three positions?

I'd quite like to see Federici up front, he's got a great scoring record.

Who's to say his development over the last few years isn't mostly down to Sheffield Wednesday's coaching staff? I didn't think there was a place for him when he left to be honest. We were chasing promotion at the time, was he Premier League quality then...my suspicion would be no.

If selling someone with obvious talent that no-one in the club could spot but others could then yep right move. I said £700k earlier, since found out we had sold him for £300k.

£7 million later and regarded as one of the most sort after players... Yep, great call.

You'd assume that given we were the club that took him from non-league football then there was at least one person at the club who spotted his talent.

There are many reasons why a player might be sold apart from "nobody thought he was any good". In fact it's highly likely that the manager that moved him on was also the scout that spotted his talent in the first place.

Good luck to Antonio for progressing his career (and to Sheffield Wednesday and Forest for improving him) but we were a top flight team when he moved on and despite an alleged £7m price tag he has yet to show he can cut it at that level despite his obvious development in recent seasons.

In that respect I'm not sure he's that much better (if at all) than MacCleary who's signing effectively led to his departure.

I agree with paragraphs 1,2 and 4 but not with 3.
We should have kept Antonio but didnt, because he wasnt particularly rated at the time (by anybody really). So his value of his sale to Sheff Wed was higher than it was perceived. Bu he was always a decent player for us. Whether he was better/worse than Mcleary is kind of immaterial because we bought Mccleary when he was POTS for Forest (or was it Gunter?) and Antonio was clearly not at that stage of his career. Ive always rated Antonio and to suggest he's always been average at this level is pure revisionism - he's been one of the most effective midfielders in the Championship for the last two years.

paultheroyal The fact WBA and Norwich are bidding up to £7 million for him would tell me an error has been made.
I guess the error was not to send him out on loan instead or selling him.

We did,
Unfortunately after having a great loan he did not want to come back to a club where most fans at the time took the piss as he fell over the ball yet again , Player did not want to be here and would have walked at the end of his contract so we accepted Sheff Wed third offer

He was in the last year of his contract, loaning him out for a year would have been cretinous.

Behave! It's not like it's Real Madrid and Manchester United rivalling for his signature.
