Rodgers seems stuck in two minds. Ings has been in good form, but Sturridge gets the nod to play off Benteke. Unsurprisingly, he is rusty.
£29m paid for Firmino, and Rodgers rarely starts him - the midfield is crying out for some pace, and Firmino can tackle too, so why he is sticking with Lucas and Milner I don't know, given Can can play that more defensive role too.

Because Rodgers is not that good as a manager/coach.

He sort of succeeded at Watford (well, he kept them up, I suppose)
He failed miserably with us
He succeeded at Swansea (no denying that one)
He was extremely fortunate to have Suarez in his first season and has not repeated anywhere near the success since.

That's, at best, a chequered history and, aside from Scott Sinclair, his record in the transfer market isn't great either

Rodgers is credited with sorting Suarez's head out and getting that amazing season from him in the first place, as well as bringing Sterling on and into the player he is.

Agreed. I distinctly remember thinking as Suarez sunk his teeth into Ivanovic's arm and then when he tried to bite the head of the Italian fellah that Rodgers had really sorted him out.

A big LOL at re-writing the achievements of a manager that so far spent has 300 million and still hasn't bettered the achievements of both Steve Coppell and and Brian McDermott as a manager.
