JCNameless I wonder whether the name is a potential problem of etiquette ?
Towns such as Royal Wootten Bassett are granted the 'Royal' bit by the Queen.
Can someone simply decide to call something 'Royal' without permission ?
Might be on a par with calling somewhere a 'city' when it is still officially a town !
In a word No
You cannot even use the name Windsor in a company name without royal consent.

Reading’s co-chairwoman says her Thai consortium are committed to the club for the long-term and that they dream of turning the town into a ‘second London’.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Lady Sasima refuted suggestions that the Thais are only involved at Madejski Stadium to make money.
The comments are linked to the recently announced Royal Elm Park development - which will see a convention centre, hotel, ice rink and 630 homes built on land around the stadium.
Developers hope to submit a planning application to Reading Borough Council in the coming weeks and many believe real estate opportunities are the only reason the consortium opted to buy the club from Sir John Madejski last summer.
But Sasima insists the money they make from potential developments such as Royal Elm Park will be put back into the local community as well as the club itself.
“We have a big vision,” she said. “A big dream that Reading would be a second London.
“We will not just make a success and pack our bag and leave for home.
“We are going to be here and see to it that the money is ploughed back into the town, to the people of Reading and to the club as well.”
Sasima also spoke about the possibility of cashing in on a naming rights deal for Madejski Stadium.
Speaking to getreading.co.uk in August she admitted that the Thais were open to securing a sponsorship deal - if the price is right.
And it’s something that the owners are still exploring.
She said: “If somebody gives us a good price and it’s worthwhile to think about it we may, but it is not the objective to break this up, to sell this, to make money.”

Forbury Lion Living in a second London doesn't appeal to me if that means Broad Street gets an influx of Romanian pick picketers and beggars. It's bad enough beggars around the station.

Why would anyone picket a pick? Or is that a traditional pastime of Romanians?

Using Royal names on products, rather than as part of a Company’s name, is illegal if the use of the name suggests the goods have some connection with or are supplied to a Member of the Royal Family.

Maneki Neko Saying the right things is a good thing isn't it? So far I think they've done the right things too, which is also good. Or have I missed something?

Saying the right things is easy, just look at Anton Zingarevich during his time here and also at the Russian Ice Hockey club he stitched up. The Thai's haven't spent a great deal yet, and who's to say it isn't loans against the club's assets which has made what we have spent possible, rather than their own money? Only time will tell.
I'm just very distrusting of new owners in general now, especially those that have such big plans for the surrounding land. When that's all sold off and they're left with an expensive football club to keep paying out for - I wonder how long they all remain interested in RFC and their so called new London then..

Ian Royal I'm 100% sure Sassima is the real deal. I'm not fully convinced she isn't being manipulated as the acceptable and genuine front of the others who have far less honourable intentions. But that's very much an unevidenced vague and minor background worry.
